Ben Rutten - Back to the grindstone (Part 2)

You wouldn’t think he will survive that.

The fact we have gone completely backwards from last year also against him

The big Buck members would put too much pressure on the club at that point. They would force a change

Bottom 4 in the clubs 150th year

Another reason he’ll get the chop

Personally, the jig is up. The damage is done and it would take an almighty flip flop for this team or Rutten to earn back any credibility.

Not sure why football departments hold off on decisions like this.

Cut the dud now and get active on the replacement.

Brendon Bolton only lasted 2 years iirc

BTW feel pretty vindicated after calling for his head from round 1 and everyone telling me I was overreacting.

the thing is 90% of clubs need a senior coach to sheet home the blame to as the list is being rebuilt. Not that we are rebuilding of course…

If we get rid of him now, the next coach will end up carrying the can and generally, that is not how these things work.

They’ll publicly declare support for him when the media come calling again and that will take the heat out of it for this year.

Next year will likely be a different story though.

I’m sure they would considering they are probably complicit either the other underperforming parties.

The next coach that comes in needs to be ruthless and all about applying pressure and defending

Any player that dosen’t do either see ya

I wouldn’t be surprised to find that part of the reason we look like crap is because Rutten is trying to apply standards and define roles and strategies that are being railed against by some in the playing group.

I also wouldn’t be surprised to hear that one or two fan favourites might perhaps be part of the underlying problem.

While you wouldn’t be surprised, do you know something.

A couple of the chubbier players on our list?

Nope, no inside information at all.

Just the sense i get from observing the dysfunctional team on field, and the dysfunctional club off field.

It really does look like he’s very choosy who to apply these “standards” to.

But there’s no way it’s a happy, harmonious club. Nor should it be.

Rutten may turn out to be a good coach for another club but he isn’t what we need right now

yes i’ve wondered about that aspect as well.

it’s definitely a complex beast leading a team and the reality is it’s impossible to really know what’s going on from the outside.

I want Ross the boss

Imagine his first day of preseason training

I think Ross the Boss would be a total disaster for us, complete nightmare, big Malthouse vibes

Yep.

I think it’s fair to say he hasn’t got very much right this year. At all.

It is hard to work out what Shiel and Smith did to get dropped that wouldn’t apply equally to literally 10 or 12 other guys.
