I think he’d do well for us. Once he guts the list of all the trippers who refuse to play accountable footy, I think we’d be ok
Nah Clarkson wins flags but we won’t get him.
I won’t the board and CEO gone first
they’ve got the wrong birthdays I think is what it boils down to.
or the defined roles and strategies:
- suck and don’t work well in an actual match
- current players can’t implement them because they (the players) suck
- current players can’t implement them because they don’t know how or ain’t good enough to do so.
- all of the above
He was a joke in the end at Freo, then behaved like a complete tool with the Carlton job. Not sure he has done a single thing since to enhance his credentials.
I see a has been coach with a chip on his shoulder that will seek immediate success but instead send us further into the depths.
Ross will install discipline in the non negotiables like defending.
Also won’t be afraid to drop senior players.
When he was coach of Saints he dropped Milne and Dal Santo (I think) N.Riewoldt said the playing group were shocked and said that was the turning point for them
Long time ago now. Perhaps better to look at his recent history, he is long past it. But if that is our measuring point of success then there are plenty of other more credentialed coaches around.
Yep.
But rather than actually get rid of them, he’s just undermining them.
For…. reasons.
He has already stated he won’t be putting his hand up for any coaching role.
He hasn’t been a creep to any young women in the office for a year or so, so that’s good.
the coaching panel have all come from good to great systems elsewhere so number 1 seems pretty unlike IMO.
2 and 3 are basically the same thing and I absolutely subscribe to the theory that Essendon does not have the players required to ultimately be successful in the short to medium term.
Since we want to live in the past why not just bring back Sheedy? Hell what’s Leigh Matthews doing? Imagine first day of pre season! Do you think they’ll watch predator in The Hangar or at X’s house?
James Hird is ready again!!!
Clarko ain’t coming to us
If Rutten goes then others need to go including some players. He is not completely at fault and shouldn’t be made the scapegoat.
but WHY wait until the end of the year… I feel (and have felt all season) we have a perfect opportunity to salvage something from this year. Sack Rutten now… give Cara enough time to ‘try’ a few things… see how he goes.
We have a chance to see if Cara is the problem, is the right fit… and then STILL have time to do a full search with ALL candidates available.
What can be gained by waiting?? We get to the end of the season… belted every week. McGrath, Perkins and a heap of others all want out… we have no idea about the coach… we either have to go for an old has been or take a punt… we still haven’t seen if Cara can handle the top seat… there is just NOTHING good that comes from waiting.
We are getting worse every single week. Every time this fraud of a coach sends these boys in… he is doing more damage. It is ugly and getting uglier. Something needs to be done and done now.
Shame Rutten doesn’t have the strength of character Leon did… to resign gracefully. Truck is a fraud.
Board and CEO first nothing will change until this happens
While I agree, the issue for me is that they are not really putting in the effort. All players, regardless of quality can go in hard, can tackle, can apply pressure. They won’t win, but at least they are working hard enough.
This group isn’t doing that, all stats show it, just watching them shows it. Yes that is on the players, but it is also on the coaches. That is the coaches job, to get the team playing the basics each week, regardless of the class or quality. The fact that this highly credentialed coaching group cannot make them do this is a great worry.
Do we have the right coaching setup, do we have the right mix of assistants? Did we just go out and “get the best” without any thought of how they compliment each other?
You get the head coach, then you get assistants that can work the weaknesses in the head coach and create a strong working bond, knowing that if one misses something the others cover it and highlight it. They all seem to be the same.
I’m vocal for wanting Rutten gone… but you are right… it shouldn’t stop with him. Plenty to cull from the list… and I’d get rid of X and Duds too. Fire the entire strength and fitness department… like every single one of them and start again.
Plenty of work to be done. Plenty.
Everyone here knows my view’s on the board and CEO.
Players playing for themselves and sabotaging the gameplan can ■■■■ right off.
