Ben Rutten - Back to the grindstone (Part 2)

They have to be gone by years end otherwise more mediocre performances next year

I remember Cripps doing this along with a few others at Carlton to basically get rid of Bolton, only to then be replaced by Teague.

Farkin pathetic.

They (the players) wanted Teague too btw, they then shafted him as well.

I have some sympathy for Rutten i reckon he has a lazy playing group who aren’t prepared to put in the hard yards. And some would shaft any coach so its not him not getting them motivated. Some far more interested in being an AFL player and getting some stats.

not disagreeing, so if that’s the case then:

Do the coaches know/believe this?

What are they going to do about it?

And is the current approach the coaches are taking the appropriate one with this current list?

I agree.

He is responsible too make the necessary changes with those players by making hard calls what is best for the team moving forward.

Be interesting team selection next weekend if he makes those tough calls.

Says one of the prime ā€œhurr durr wossfoldā€ scape goaters?

Do you get it yet?

Well, the working’s not working… we’re getting beaten in the same manner every fkn week…

It’s acutely embarrassing how easy we are to play against…

What? I wanted more than Worsfold gone. He was part of the problem not the whole problem.

You still think he was part of the problem? Really?

This would not surprise me
It can’t be a coincidence that it has happened with multiple coaches….it’s a cultural problem.
Players don’t like it
Players crack the ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–
Coach gets sacked
New coach comes in, nice and easy year 1
Year 2 tries to implement change and standards
Players get upset
Rinse and repeat

You know it.

Don’t bother, Hap is a Woosha worshiper and defender.

He was a heavy part of the problem.

Cara is part of the coaching panel trying to implement change. What in gods name makes you think he would change much in a game plan he has helped come up with and coach?

Yeah I do… and I think the ā€˜hand over’ arrangement is part of the problem too… Rutten flowed from Worstfold. They both suck.

So everyone is all like… it can’t just be coaching… ummm yes and no. No one is saying it is 100% coaching… but fark it seems like a bit part of it right now. Our list looks ok on paper… not dominant but not a disaster zone either.

Hird had us playing good football… he gets shafted… Bomber never wanted the job… then Worstfold gets pushed on us by the AFL (why couldn’t Roos be pushed onto us instead of melbourne?!!) and he didn’t really want the gig… and then he hand picks Rutten to carry on his usual, crap philosophy.

The last 10 years since Hird have been a waste… go and get a good coach and this ship can turn around pretty quickly.

The worst thing we did was let Worsfold mentor Rutten for a year.

He was garbage.

It is my belief that his style would be very different to what we are currently playing. The head coach sets the overall game plan… line coaches then work within that system.

It is my belief that Cara is not responsible for the hot mess that is our ā€˜game plan’

Bit depressing isn’t it that it did take the AFL to shaft Hird, and find us a halfway decent coach. Such a fucken pissweak club.

Theres a hole in your coaching dear Rutten, dear Rutten.

He should be responsible for the midfield.

Which - on recent showings - means he’s as much chance to coach a senior AFL team as I am.
