Ben Rutten - sacked

Robbo is a media star and a godsend for 360 and Fox. He’s theatrical, creates hours of content out of not much, and he makes Twatley look really really intelligent.
Twatley is very concise and economical with words, so without Robbo 360 would only go for 5 minutes and we would discover much better things to do with our lives.
They can’t allow that.

Yeah, I know … he is like that all the time.
I was wondering if he has had a stroke or something in the past … not trying to be funny … totally serious.
Either that or he goes on air inebriated.
I’ve never mentioned it before, for fear of picking on someone with some kind of handicap.
My apologies if he actually does have a handicap.

Rutten, the only person within the 4 walls at the club who has acted with class and dignity this week…… is the problem with ‘toxic culture’.

Just f*ck off.

We wouldn’t be ripping up the rule book right now if Sheedy hadn’t cast his vote for Barham. Sheedy may have just done this club it’s greatest service. Be thankful he still cares and could clearly see the writing on the wall

Crazy isn’t it

Robert the Bruce? The guy who shafted William Wallace?

My middle fkng names.

Onya dad.

The funniest thing about robbo is every footy fan calls him an alcoholic then he goes on tv tonight as excited as a schoolgirl over Gerrard owing him a couple of bottles of ■■■■ over a bet he won. The lack of awareness of how he is perceived by the public is amazing.

That statement tells me 1000% he’s not out next captain.

He doesn’t sound like a Captain.

And people were saying that it’s unfortunate that he was scheduled to go on AFL 360 today, in the middle of the turmoil.

He’s the f*cking Vice-Captain. He’s likely going to be the captain in a few weeks…… of course he should be fronting up to the media, after a pitiful and embarrassing performance from the team.

I really hope he isn’t captain, he’s an excellent player, don’t get me wrong, but he isn’t a captain. He does not lead.

Understand that I believe Ben Rutten is not best suited as a coach for Essendon, the decades long entrenced toxic culture of the club is beyond his good natured capacity to overcome.

However, the longer this fiasco of a coaching transition goes on the more respect I have for Ben.

To my mind, he has handled the disaster that the Essendon board has created with absolute dignity.

Whenever he leaves Tullamarine, he can hold his head up high as far as I’m concerned.

From what we know of Clarko, who would he want as captain?? I reckon Redman.

Voss?

The quote is Being misconstrued. It wasn’t as if he was saying he will fall into line only when a new coach comes in, he was trying to atriculate that he would support whatever decision the club made. I definitely didn’t get a bad vibe listening to it in its totality.

I’d be happy with Redman.

Just as long as he doesn’t smirk.
That’ll ■■■■ people right off again.

I don’t know that it is a toxic culture … more so inept , apathetic , bungling misguided meandering lost.
Toxic to me implies Nasty, Bickering, Infighting Horrible place to exist.

I think Brasher embraced Ben with open arms and supported him, so too did X. He was probably Having a lovely time.

If only he could coach !

The “Disaster” was unavoidable.
It took a Spill to create change, and for all we know Sheedy may have been a little conflicted and in the end moved in the direction he believed was in the Club’s best interests.

A changing of the guard like this is almost like an election loss for an incumbent government that had rigged the electoral boundaries.

It had to play out this way.
I suspect Barham has been in unofficial contact with Clarkson all the while, but could not offer anything until he got the numbers. Clarkson wasn’t going to sit around waiting for an uncertain outcome so he proceeded negotiations with others. In the End he may honour those negotiations if he absolutely committed, but if not the door is open to consider his options. So be it.

Pressure was mounting and finally we got the nail in the coffin moment that shifted sentiment so strongly for change there was no option left.

I don’t believe the Board is handling this badly, the Board has been fractured and is in the process of putting things back together. The Media Frenzy smelling blood in the water ensured this was going to be a Herculean Drama. Every man and his dog wants to get their 30 seconds worth in.

As for how Ben handles himself.
What else is he going to do … spit the dummy … take his footy and go home … that will not bode well for him down the track. He is now auditioning for his next role wherever that might be.

Everything is as it has to be and all will come to a logical conclusion when time permits. There is much water that needs to pass under the bridge.
