Ben Rutten - sacked

If I modelled the behaviour of a young person, it doesn’t have the small ripple amplitude of a mature person. A mature side is what is typically winning premierships. We get a goal kicked against and react differently to a mature side.

Following this all week has been bloody exhausting. Pretty keen for it to be all wrapped up. Don’t even care if Clako goes to Norf, just want Truck to be put out of his misery and the club to move forward.

Brilliantly played by Sheed’s in that podcast - putting a seed of doubt into North fans heads that a Clarkson appointment would mean a move to Tassie. Dumb n cheeky!

I feel a little sad for Ben, until I think about the $$ he is on and how much he will get if his contract is paid out.

It’s pretty much just straight quotes from Merrett’s appearance on 360 last night.

Haha, indeed.

Nothing new in the article. It’s basically a rehash of the Merret interview last night

I hope Rutten does this club dirty. We deserve to be punished.

This is a very good point.

A coach only has so much influence in the whole organisation. You can’t make a holistic culture change at the club, when the executives won’t by in.

Rutten will move on to another club and show he is a successful coach. But just because he can’t coach at Essendon, doesn’t mean he’s a sh*t coach.

We’re done - feeling we won’t get Clarkson now.

Despite media saying otherwise, if we sack Rutten and run a process (in my view) we’re in a better position than we were at the end of last week.

Barham has to get fair dinkum and remove X or restructure him out of any football department matters. The board needs a clean out and the new coach needs to feel comfortable and confident to control the relevant aspects of the club - something I feel Rutten was never set up to do, nor was he equipped to demand it, he’s too passive and not cut out to be a senior coach.

We will absolutely cop it from the media and opposition fans but Rutten has to go and be replaced by someone with a stronger personality and more conviction. The players patently don’t respect Rutten. They like him, but they don’t respond to him.

I have no idea what any of this means.

We have got Clarko

If you were to define the characteristics of Essendon FC honestly, it would be Politics, Secrecy and unaccountability.

Time’s like these we MUST ask ourselves what would Jason Laycock do?

Ban if not true

Like hodgey just said, clarkson is doing his due diligence atm. What i did like that hodge said was that if clarkson ends up at us, we will be focusing defensively minded and best decisions to make all through pre season untill its drilled into our head. And that if players didnt buy in theyd be dealt with / dropped to the vfl untill they did. Exactly what we have needed

No I agree with that. I don’t think Clarkson would go through that but simply point to his record. I just question whether it’s the right thing to do is all. We haven’t run a process for our senior coach in a long time yet here we are.
