Best Restaurants in Melbourne

While we are at it, and the secrets been out as I mostly see Caucasian’s there now.

Best restaurant in Melbourne

I  Pho in Richmond.

If looking for Italian, Positanos in Hallam is delightful as is Belleti in Dandenong.

For your regular feed, Dandenong Pavillion is fantastic.

Donavans overlooking the bay at St Kilda.

Never been disappointed there. They do a sensational chicken pie. Chicken liver parfait entree is the best pate you will eat,

If you want something 'very melbourne ’ bar olo in carlton. Almost impossible to find, basic decore, awesome food, snack / sharing based. Great wine, all by the glass only.

Well liked by hospitality workers

Yes I thought he also has the other high end joint on Gertrude St, toward the museum.

We are pretty fortunate to have so many great spots to eat.

Cutler & Co?

Yes that one. I think he owns that as well. Have been a couple of times, but prefer other places.

Yeah he does

Agree. Avoid the Stokehouse. It used to be great, but since it reopened after being burnt down and rebuilt it’s been overpriced and pretentious.

Tiamo is unpretentious. Go next door to Johnny’s Greenroom for a rooftop nightcap and finish with Pidapipo.

You may have to roll home after all of that.

Shanikas in Berwick is superb food. Technically they’re Italian food, and they have lovely pasta, but they have quite a few less Italian mains.

It’s not super expensive or super cheap, but all the food is excellent, and the service and attention is also top tier always.

  • Umberto’s in Thornbury (the best)

  • 1800 Lasagne in Thornbury

  • Scopri in Carlton (ok it’s very fancy but amazing)

  • Italian Waiters Club in the city for a pre footy feed (I know you said suburban)

  • Pellegrinis in the city - see above and because it’s an institution

Scopri is an unknown gem. My personal favourites are:

For French, France-Soir, South Yarra.
Fish, Bacash in South Yarra (used to be Toofey’s in Carlton)
Veal Schnitzel, Lamaro’s (pub) in South Melbourne
Favourite local, Centonove in Kew

Another local favourite is Bar Alba, little sister of Centonove, opposite side of Cotham Road.

Agree. I have enjoyed many of their martinis, and their bar snacks are top class.

In a little suburb called Essendon (actually its Moonee Ponds) theres Il Caminetto.

An old school Italian I know swore by it as the best. I tried it. It is very good.

Navi in Seddon is a great restaurant. As good as any 3 hatted place but about half the price.
