They can’t watch them all 24 hours a day and anyone can buy gas cylinders at the local servo without anyone knowing. Could easily drive to three or 4 and bunnings and load up before driving into the city.

It’s the policeman’s job to protect civilians, and sometimes that involves eliminating the threat.

Love all the ice-cold heroes judging trolley man from their keyboards at home.
He probably saved a number of people from injury or death prior to the police turning up and helped keep the suspect corralled with a few others.
The two officers handled the situation as well as could expected on a busy city street.

Im a tough guy for defending myself if I have a gun in my hand and there is someone trying to kill me with a knife, and I shoot them? I would think i’m more a logical guy.
My grandfather was a cop for 18 years and many of my uncles were cops in the 60s-90s and have told me stories about things you couldn’t even imagine.
We were probably just raised differently.
Not only a piece of ■■■■ terrorist but a fkn failure too. Bomb was a dud and got thwarted by a shopping trolley.

I agree with this. I thought trolly guy was really brave. I honestly wonder if the police men at the time were glad trolly guy and a few others were distracting the offender.
After watching a few times with the police backing away either one could of easily tripped up. Really could of been a lot worse.
Feeling sad for the man stabbed and I know those policemen will have to live with the demons of today for the rest of their lives. Really depressing.
