Break the swear filter - Review thread v Woofers

oh what a nice message

I think our culture died the day we tanked the match vs Brisbane in 2016 which meant we won the wooden spoon… and nobody seemed particularly upset about it.

At least prior to that I felt we were trying to win.

Will probably apologise for that tweet too.

@Deckham
Hope you’re coping OK - looks like bragging rights go the wife this year. Again!

Dangerous and silly in what way? What could be worse than where we are now? Drop someone who’s important and out of form and send a message. No more cruising, no more joking around when you make a mistake. In Sheedy’s early years Simon Madden was dropped and look what he became. Daniher has shown potential, but that’s all, like so many players on our list. It’s about time he delivered.

find more what exactly? More Esports teams to buy? More sponsorships? More ‘feel good’ stories to drip feed the media??

How about you start by finding a coach. Finding a recruiting team that identifies midfielders. Find a hard edge. Find 22 players who give a toss. Find a game plan (see point A).

How about you find a culture that actually wants to win rather than go through the motions and enjoy the wineries on their way??

Langford just needs a solid run at AFL level.

In my next life!!

Zero tackles. Zero clearances.

Still thought he was better than Myers though.

Yup, Essington is a fine business, partnerships with education, blue chip sponsors, rich benefactors, whizz bang facilities, a CEO that has the hollow corporate speak down pat. It dont need to be anything but middle of the road so long as it lays cash out for new big name recruits (flawed coaches and players from other clubs) every now and again to keep the supporters thinking ‘this is our year’

The X thing has been blown out of perspective somewhat.

The players didn’t ask for an apology because of what he said, they expressed their dislike of it being said publically rather than privately, and X offered an apology.

Still sh/t I agree, but maybe a little less sh/t

A component recruiter could have made that situation into a win or maybe at least not a complete disaster. Hardwick got us Welsh at least which was the only saving grace from Dodoro completely botching the superdraft. Imagine for a second we draft Stevie J, Sam Mitchel & Dane Swan in 2001 - midfield set for a decade :disappointed_relieved:

No arguments on Jackson - my hatred for that cancer are well documented. Gotta love thinking back how the same apologists defended Jackson for years till it became fashionable to see the light. We knew we were one of the lowest spending clubs on football dept yet we kept Jackson at the helm for more than a decade.

It’s pathetic. I could understand if they lost a game against a competent opponent but they lost against Brisbane, at a Etihad!

Whoever asked for an apology should’ve been ruthlessly traded

bullshit Xavier

WE DONT BELIEVE YOU

the team has destroyed any integrity the club had left

This is so depressing because it’s very hard to argue against. We feel very corporate. What do you do to feel more like a football club? Is it just us or are all the clubs the same these days. I feel after the saga the club is so worried to put a foot wrong that everything you hear and see coming out of the club seems so manufactured.
Maybe I’m just becoming a kranky old prick feigning for the old days but it doesn’t seem very Essendon down at Tulla these days.

Its pretty obvious there are no standards in place at EFC as far as performance on gameday is concerned.

No non-negotiables that make up the foundation of how we want to play and thus no consequences for non-conformance.

I don’t rate Kyle Langford at all but if he was dropped for his efforts last week than he should be right back in taking the place of any number of ‘name’ midfielders for the game against Port after the disgraceful performances put up today.
