Break the swear filter - Review thread v Woofers

I’m not angry, just disappointed. Farken very disappointed.

You know I really thought there would be a lot worse in here tonight.

We’ve all seem to have accepted we are in all sorts of trouble.

I wholeheartedly believe that the 2000 season destroyed this club.

The arrogance and complacency it created is still something we are dealing with.

Mediocrity dressed as millionaires.

We need someone who is ruthless to lead us right now and at the moment all we have are mouth pieces.

Someone needs to take some accountability, someone needs to put there hand up (Dys) and say what we produced was not good enough

Bottomed out and soul searching three rounds into a season, fkn magic.

Chooka has to go back, just has to.

So predictable. So frustrating. This had the lions game from 2017 written all over it and so it was. Hooker back & joe into the ruck happened at 8mins in last qtr and what do you know? We start to gain ascendancy.

How can Bellchambers be so good against Jacobs in round one & so poor against a second year ruck today? He was pathetic. So soft. He had mates though, a lot of them too.

Again a spare man in defence for opposition and again we get smashed around the ball despite having our spare around the contest at times also. When the opposition have a spare behind the ball, we must get Hooker down there as ours. It’s fkg pointless having those big forwards there if the ball cant get there often enough.

When will they work it out? Pressure = momentum. It’s an attitudinal thing that we can control despite what the opposition do. We refuse to do it to the required standard.

It looked to me like at times Heppell & Zaharakis got sat on by the dogs, Honeychurch seemed to spend a lot of time with Heppell. Where was our accountability for MacRae, Johannisen & Hunter who ran around all day on their own?

Myers and Baguley must never play seniors again. Taking us nowhere. Persist with Langford et al. Bags has been a great warrior but he’s cooked.

It doesn’t seem to really hurt either. There’s more hurt here than in those rooms tonight. Yes, I’m mad but I’m sick of the mediocrity that’s become us for more than a decade and more of the same spin comes from X and Woosha.

Don’t know about anyone else, but I got a serious warm, fuzzy feeling when I saw Hooker take a couple of big grabs down back - like it was the most natural thing in the world for him to do. Just like old days! He looked right at home and as mentioned, Joe became more animated in his absence in the forward line. As a key forward, there would be many clubs that would pass on Cale, but as an AA intercept backman - every club would want him. My logic may be flawed, but I’d be playing him back from now on, especially after today’s debacle and with our deficiencies down back.

I reckon they need to have a very honest assessment of what is going on.
Reckon the board should be asking for a very honest assessment of what is going on.

Coach telling players what they think.
Players telling the coaches what they think.
Players telling the players what they think.
Coaches telling the coaches what they think.

Open.
Honest.
Constructive.
No offence taken.
Just say what has to be said.
Take it all on board and rebuild whatever they should be doing.

Agree. Stewart has stepped up mostly to be the other key forward.

This is a great idea. It will never happen though. I get the feeling the players just want to be cuddled and told everything is fine. Half of them would probably burst into tears if they were critiqued.

Time for some tough love. Either take it and improve or wilt and GTFO

Agree that Hooker needs to go back.

I’m not one for calling for the coaches head, but I do think the contract extension was premature.

He never maintains his work rate, or the rage, more than a game or two at a time, never has, time is proving, probably never will, can’t wait to see Draper get the crack.

I wonder how our e sports computer nerds are going. Better than the main team in this club I hope.

I am on holiday and only today had internet since last weeks game. I really enjoyed not thinking about our performance. After watching that game I wonder why I bother following this team. Phone and internet is being turned off again until the end of my holiday.

I’ve had my rants today. All I will say is ANZAC DAY.

At the game it was obvious from 10 mins in that the WB were going to play keepings off. They kicked short at every opportunity. We failed to adjust to it at any stage. Woosha is the antithesis of Sheedy. He just doesn’t seem to adjust to what is going on. He needed to tell the team at qtr time an half time to press up on the short kicks and deny the keepings off.

Secondly, it is very evident at the game that when we get the ball in the back half, everybody takes a break and trots around in the vague hope they might find a space, and then we kick long to a contest. When we cross the ground to make space, the opposition run harder and we have no options to follow up the initial cross. It makes it a futile and, with our poor kicking skills, a dangerous option. Heaven knows we gave it up repeatedly trying to pick a pass through their zone. When they did the same, there was space everywhere, and they hit the target. Why? Because they ran harder to spread, offensively and defensively than we did. It happened against Freo and it happened in spades today. We either can’t run as hard as other teams or we are too lazy to do it.

We were badly beaten in 2 areas today

  1. Spread
  2. Kicking skills

All the ranting about culture and history is just so much frustration coming out. There were real reasons for today;;s loss.

Thank God I a pretty awful hangover today. It meant I could spend $30 odd bucks on a couple pizzas and eat it all in bed and not bother leaving bed, rather than pay for what was dished up.

Lucky man.
