The only positive to come out of yesterday is that Geelong lost and no one will be writing them off at 1-2.
There’s a long way to go but we have to respond quickly. Port, pies, dees, Hawks, Blues. I think we have win 3 to be alive at round 8. The 3 weeks after that are cats, gws, tigers
Carlton fans would be loving their eggs this morning reading some of the stuff on this board! They’d be thinking that we are the new Richmond. Sack the coach!SAck the team! Sack everything!
You know how we like to laugh at fans on other forums after a win… e.g. “the fark Carlton big footy forum is going nuts”… the ENTIRE Western Bulldogs fan base is laughing at us. Robert Murphy is in stitches and he’s confident if there were any other fans they’d be laughing too.
We are. We’re pretty much at the same place Richmond found themselves in about 2000, which was 20 years after their previous flag. As a Richmond hater from way back (they used to smash us when I was a kid) I used to love watching their fans all frothy at the mouth - “sack the coach, sack all the players, we’re just a big pile of ■■■■” etc, carrying on like a whiny bunch of little sooks. A whiny bunch of little sooks, I’ll repeat that. Pathetic, absolutely pathetic. And they consigned their club to another two decades of mediocrity because basically they were such a worthless, spineless bunch of supporters. Ahh, those were the days!
Doggies kicked 1/8 in the first quarter. We should have been 6 goals down at quarter time. I think we have maybe 5 turnovers in the first halfnod the first quarter that resulted in direct shots at goal. We should have been pumped by so much more it’s not funny
Good Morning Blitzers, what a ■■■■■■■ shitsandwich that was. As many have said so predictable, so Essendon. Well we clearly haven’t improved in fact I think we look completely lost yesterday and against Freo and for large parts of round 1. The way the bulldogs moved the ball from defence all game against how we did it was startling. They ran with purpose, they honoured the lead and moved it quickly, they took uncontested marks all day. When we had the ball no one ran, it’s like we set up a zone defence in offence! It was ■■■■■■■ crazy. We had no idea what to do with the ball. Clear as day this is a coaching issue.
I think the freo game was different, they were utterly relentless with their pressure. None of that yesterday. We played the dogs into form by kicking it to them inside their own fifty for most of the first quarter.
This game was more a mirror of the Adelaide game with inexplicable turnovers under no discernible pressure early in the game. This creates even more self doubt in the players that feeds on itself as the game goes on. Ithink we would be an entirely different proposition if we ever manage to get a good start in a game.
What worries me the most is that there doesn’t seem to be any frantic desire to win the contested ball. Doesn’t seem to be a discernible game plan.
I’m just wondering as last year was a massive emotional year, returning players , and Jobe leaving that this year we are mentally really down after such an emotional year last year. The foot seems to have come off the gas quite a bit this year by comparison
Well that was ■■■■■■■ terrible and not worth getting up for…a couple of things I thought about while watching the game:
Woosha was resigned a tad early. He is a players coach and doesn’t really call them out too often and has that gentle approach. This group likes that so they played for his contract and now he is there for another 2 years they can take their foot off of the pedal.
Going along with the first point, this group is soft. Think of that damn tweet fiasco last year after losing to the Bears and the playing group demanded an apology. You lost to a ■■■■ team, we deserved the apology. I wonder if Woosha is even allowed to yell and give the hair dryer treatment to these guys, or will they just get upset and go and complain to the HR or the AFLPA about being yelled at?
