Brisbane 2032

I mean…after the Beijing drums and drones show…Matilda winking is gonna seem pretty lame.

Victoria park is fine.

The various layers of government are bickering over transport.

Its because their busway doesnt go there. Theres a perfectly good train line though. Probably just needs another stop

It gets funnier by the hour :joy:

have to deal with patrons in Fortitude Valley every weekend.

If they can manage that, they can manage anything.

So, they need a new oval stadium now, well basically now. It costs ~$3B in todays $’s.

Rather than bite the bullet and leverage a legacy opportunity by building Victoria Park or the GABBA for the Olympics, they choose to waste $600M+ on a white elephant with no future (QSAC) and kick the $3B new stadium ‘issue’ 8 years down the road, by which time it could be $4B cost for some other government to take responsibility for. So that’s now a cost of new stadium in 8 years of in effect $4.6B inclusive of tipping the QSAC spend in one of the old dunnies.

Hopeless leadership, shortsightedness. This things not adding up. There’s something more smelly with this Miles / Coates decision. It will surface in time. It’s becoming more of a farce than the Vic Comm Games fiasco.

It will be the S…t sandwich given to them that they will have to try and deliver. Not their fault, they will try and clean up the current mobs mess.

I am unconvinced.
Minor event but…how they gonna deal with tennis?
Really?

First things first…
How they gonna do opening ceremony?
51k?
Really.

They are sooooo out of their depth in every way.

I know different times, different era etc. but I feel the national buy in to Sydney 2000 was huge. Albeit, I was only 7 when it happened, so definite chance of misremembering.

It was fkn promoted everywhere for years in advance. There’s been SFA for Brisbane.

you’re right. the ioc should have given it to one of the other cities that bid

Wasn’t the wing in the 1993 Grand Final painted up for the Sydney games?

But it’s a fair point. There is a huge lead in time for Brisbane.

Funny to think that at one point in time Gilligan was earmarked to be Brisbane 2032 CEO but Palachook demanded a woman be given the job instead

what the Olympics not their fault? why would anyone blame them for money spent so far?. they will have a clean slate. let’s see what they do.
what ever they do vs what was so called wasted before will be two completely different things . problem is they have been running around and screaming disaster for years without contributing a single good idea . problem is come October, it’s going to come to fruition . like typical liberals the first thing they will do is try to sell assets and sack public servants like last time . they don’t have any progressive ideas whatsoever. I bet when they get in they’ll spend all of their first term talking about Labor

Imagine blaming someone that is not in power for your decisions, mistakes, mismanagement and lack of vision. Taking the p1ss or wot? And this is from someone that hates the liberals.

The LNP on this are woeful too, no leadership.

But the government is responsible for this mess and a cluster f…k is the only way to describe how they’re managing it.

lol.
You’re the biggest Tasmania/Brisbane cheerleader ever.

You’re not bothered by how legitimately embrassing both proposals are.
Good for you.

Do we have a stadium?
Uhhhh…no.
But give us it anyway.

i put it down to my incredible ability to imagine things being different upwards of three, even four, weeks into the future

I assure you I’m looking forward.
And I see two states that can’t build a stadium that fits needs.
And that’s the least of their problems.
