Celebrity Deaths 2017

Dan (in his earlier days Danny) Webb has died aged 92.

I remember him on Video Village and It’s Academic, but he later dropped the diminutive part of his name and became a political reporter.

Channel Seven: ‘This news will come as a shock to many…’
Presumably those who thought he was already dead.

Who could ever forget My Ding-a-Ling.

Chuck Berry dies and the world mourns while Rolf Harris is in jail

Chuck’l Berry was one of the founding fathers of Rock ‘n’ Roll, along with Bo Diddley and Buddy Holly, in terms of the music forms they created. A great entertainer, l saw him live, twice, decades ago. Prefer the other two mentioned above for their music, but Chuck was copied by more than them, and has left a more enduring legacy, thanks to his influence on the Stones, to name just one.

Are you suggesting that C Berry was a perverted child molester?

Yes he was and did some jail time for it

Never knew that.

Not quite as clear cut as that.

Bearing in mind that there are parts of America where it was not out of the question to marry young girls back in the 50s, I’d need to be assured that he wasn’t using his position to deflower young lasses.

There’s a difference between accepting the mores of the time versus being a creep and enticing girls (and boys) Jimmy Saville, Rolf Harris style.

Except Rolph Harris was convicted for fiddling girls. Berry was convicted for transporting a minor with the intent to perform ‘immoral’ acts.

A charge that was often used at the time to set-up prominent black figures. Not that it’s clear that it was the case here.

Vale Don Rickles. Might give Casino a viewing over the weekend, loved his character in that movie.

Joe Pesci beat him up with a telephone

Yeah, he was a bit of a turd in that movie, old Joe.

Funny guy.

I love it when Joe Pesci swears.

Not really a celebrity, but Jim Marshall died aged 88 yesterday. Founder of Marshall Amplification.
