Chris Murphy, successful Australian music manager best known for managing the career of Aussie rock band INXS, has died aged 66.
The Daily Telegraph reports that Murphy, who had been INXSâ manager since 1980, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer before Christmas.
The members of INXS also released a statement: âIt is with great sadness that the remaining members of INXS mourn the passing of our brother, Chris Murphy. Without Chrisâs vision, passion and hard work, the INXS story would be totally different. Chrisâs star burned very bright and we celebrate a life well lived and send all our love to his family.â

Phil Spector, passed at 81.
If there was ever a poster boy for âflawed geniusâ, he was it. Revolutionised music production, bringing lush, symphonic-type arrangements/sounds to humble pop/rock songs.
Lennon believed he was the best producer he worked with apparently.
But he was a deeply flawed individual- the fact he died in a prison hospital may allude to that.

Thatâs a legitimate shame. Love the music he produced and the influence he had on pop music at the time, but the man is an absolute treacherous human it seems.
He also had a cameo role in Easy Rider, as the drug dealer in the opening scene.

I did a bit of work at Chrisâ place last year, including clearing some space for someone that was coming over and wanted to land their helicopter in his backyard.

Legend has it that Spektorâs fascination with guns and security guards came about after he was humiliated during an assault he suffered when he was around 18 in which his assailants cornered him in a bathroom, beat him up before p*ssing on him. Those who know him say he never went anywhere unarmed ever again.
