Celebrity deaths 2021

That is way too close to being Mo Salah late at night after a few drinks.

Yep - and by that list it sounds like it wasn’t just about the pain anymore but an effort to try and cope with the side effects of the medication through more medication.

It’s scary how quickly it can get out of control, suddenly you don’t feel like yourself anymore and before you know it you’re self- managing the situation by using one drug for this and another for that and another to get some sleep etc… and then you’re addicted and withdrawl is easier said than done.

Bert probably not the most surprising announcement in this thread

Still sad. Funnily enough the two things I think of when I think of Victoria are my first trip there when a friend of mums got offended when I handed back a Collingwood jumper she bought for me, and Bert.

I know you offer more but there you go.

Bert Newton was a great Labor supporter. He would turn up at meetings without his wig, and call everyone Comrade. One of nicest blokes I ever met.

He always said it was his ads that won Gough the election in 1972.

RIP Bert.

Sad to hear, not unexpected with his recent health issues.

RIP Bert.

You always come across as witty and a fun loving person.

I remember being in the audience of New Faces at a live taping,( A friend of mine was competing).
Bert was a master of timing. He’d smoke like a chimney during the ad breaks, looking like a man who really needed a dart Yet when they’d give his the 10 second warning, out came a fan to blow away the smoke, and as soon as the camera hit him, it was “SHOWTIME”. He ran the thing like a swiss watch.
And the memories I have of watching IMT as a very young bloke, and the Don Lane Show when a little older. What he was able to produce on live unscripted TV was often genius.
But possibly the best memory is watching him see his life flash before his eyes when he uttered the " I like the boy" comment to Muhammed Ali. I’ll never know if that was a set up, but geez he looked genuinely worried there for a bit.
