Club logo/update? Nino has an idea

New leadership, new branding. Leadership 101.

If we’re trying to figure out what we’d be if Bombers was dropped, our mascot is a mosquito. Which by the way, is cleverly an insect capable of great destruction, and a WW2 reconnaissance plane/light bomber, so we could appease those wanting to move away from military aircraft, and those who still want one. And it’s a nod to our history with the mosquito fleet. It’s also one of, if not my favourite WW2 aircraft.

this should be a poll?

Forget about the brand. Get the club united behind the coach and the players and Essendon in the 2020s may get a taste of the success Sheedy brought us.

The irony of that sentence given the rest of the article.

Should we change or keep our logo related poll?

Or a:

“Is Saucy actually YoungStevo” type poll?

Why not have both?

9 news with the update

“Essendon have responded and stated this is merely a research exercise”

That logo looks vaguely like a B58 Hustler. IIRC it was the first supersonic bomber.

Am I reading the tone of Lloyd right, is he turning this into a culture war issue? Is logo design now a “woke” agenda?

I hate it so so much. Wtf is with the tick thing?

My guess would be someone was doing a focus group of some sort and going through all the aspects of the brand with stuff like “red and black colours align with the Essendon club brand and values” (strongly disagree to strongly agree), “military aircraft imagery aligns with the Essendon club brand and values” (strongly disagree to strongly agree), “‘The Dons’ nickname aligns with the Essendon club brand and values” (strongly disagree to strongly agree).

They went through the whole process at port a few years ago and the lightning bolt went away because port fans didn’t care about the lightning bolt. Not because fossil fuels are bad for the environment or some ■■■■.

Some graphic design company or whatever will do their research and find out Essendon fans care about being the Bombers and that’ll be that. Maybe there will be a plane in the logo, maybe we’ll join the boring as ■■■■ shield and monogram group, but if we do it will be because clubs chase trends. There’s no woke conspiracy about ■■■■■■■ jet logos.
