COVID-19 - March 23 to April 9

is going to get a takeaway coffee a bad idea? i’m hanging for some caffienation, but it’s a risky proposition these days.

good to support businesses

pick one that does tap payment

Depends who you ask. I say go for it. Good for the cafes, good for you, and we may not be able to do it much longer

Guys I work at the airport servicing both international and domestic aircraft, I was back on shift Sat morn and I can tell you most int airlines are still flying into Mel repatriating aussies and getting non citizens out. QF94 came in yesterday from LA with quite a few on board, I don’t think any of these people are being screened or tested.

Sack all politicians who lie or refuse to believe scientists who tell them there is an existential threat.

Nice to see the government is taking a proactive approach.

“The businesses that will close due to the Stage 1 shutdown include pubs, clubs, nightclubs, Crown Casino, and licensed venues in hotels and pubs. It also includes gyms, indoor sporting venues, places of worship, cinemas and entertainment venues. Restaurants and cafes will only be allowed to provide home delivery or takeaway services.”

But Andrews should have never released that statement at all … all it did was create more confusion and panic

You saw people running out to Bunnings & Dan Murphys (thinking that they would be closed down on Tuesday)

My work sent me an e-mail at 7:30am this morning to come into the office and collect my PC as we will be shutting down tomorrow … 45 minutes later after Andrews backflip get another e-mail as I’m about to step into the car saying “sorry, don’t worry coming in, we are not shutting down now”

Yeh go ahead.

also find businesses probably prefer you to use tap, I actually have cash at the moment but dont want to use it due to extra contact with notes and change.

Speaking to a cafe owner the other day and she said, she feel obliged to continue for now, as the flow on effect of not operating means people selling beans has less income, and effect to employees of closure etc.

there store is limited to 7 customers in the store at a time due to Govt size limit restrictions, so people wait outside and go in when someone goes out.

They have moved to takeaways only.

Unbelievable, considering that passengers from the USA have been the main source of the outbreak.

Good decisions made early on, China and Italian flights, 2 weeks quarantine on Xmas island and outside Darwin… what happened to that policy FCS? I tell you why, fear of offending farking Trump, the same Trump that has farked and lied to his people for 4 years!

I am agreeing with you. Not sure of the reasoning though. Usually if a leak is in public before a meeting of some kind it is attempt at leverage

Persistent rumour that he started the Great Fire by ashing out his Blackfriars clay pipe on a hay stack.

Today’s Brisbane job went ahead, Adelaide QF lounge was fairly quite but still looked to be a few travelling. Only had a coffee so can’t vouch for the food. Only the 4 of us in business and the aircraft looked to be maybe half full in economy tops. Short turn around with just 2hrs at the Brisbane QF lounge now before heading back home. Plane home is chocker block in Business and Economy with no seats spare and some getting bumped after cutbacks on the route. Have just grabbed a secluded spot in the lounge and will relax for a little bit. Tomorrow’s meeting in MEL still going ahead but now coming back on an earlier flight to beat the 4pm curfew.

Cashless society here we come!

People of Australia have really tested my faith in this country the last couple of weeks.

I still maintain the majority do the right thing, but I am wavering.

I also think the Government is late to the party, but seem to be getting it right at the moment.

EDIT: wife in Sydney CBD this morning, saw heaps of people greeting each other with hugs. I just can’t.

Nothing to do with Trump. Emirates, Etihad and Qatar just to name a few are still operating to several Australian cities daily carrying people from all over the world. Still over 120 International flights per day arriving in Australia and only a fraction of those are from the US

One thing you need is a separation certificate from your employer.

My work is considered an “essential service”, therefore we are trading as normal, just that most people are working remotely. People have been split into 2 teams, Team 1 works from the office this week and then from home next week, and that continues on an alternate basis. I’m Team 2 so WFH this week and then office next, etc. I’ve seen nothing to suggest that plan has been scrapped and that we are mandatory WFH until further notice…

I agree, this seems to be getting far too political - though in a sense I am glad the State Governments are trying forcing Scomo’s hand. Who knows what, if any, additional measures he would have announced last night if they hadn’t gone rogue.

I am not sure the point of this phased approach. I think we all expect that this is going to end in some form of lock-down, but we seem to be waiting for the numbers to get bad enough to justify it. Shouldn’t we be doing it before we get there to give the health system a fighting chance?
