It’s a bit dumb here too. We can’t exercise more than 2.5km from home but I can drive 80km to go to the supermarket if I really wanted to. Lucky we don’t have big problems here.

No offence to any of our NSWelsh people, but they can ■■■■ right off with that idea. The current situation is the NSW governments own fault, the price shouldn’t have to be worn by the rest of us.
Plenty have been waiting patiently for far too long, due to Federal Gov ineptitude, for access to the vaccine recommended as the safest option for them, they shouldn’t be forced to now wait longer due to the ineptitude of someone else’s state Government.

IDK whether a Premier of a State can declare a national emergency, but maybe the PM for Sydney has her back
Definitely looks like Gladys is just accepting high numbers until everyone is vaccinated:
Gladys Berejiklian dealt the fresh blow on Friday morning after explaining NSW had recorded another 136 new cases, the biggest daily spike since the outbreak began.
“Our challenge is, as I said yesterday, to live as freely and as safely as possible until we get enough vaccines in arms,” she said.
“That means that we need to live as freely and as safely as possible during August, September, and October, according to the federal (government’s) vaccination rollout.”
She said by the end of October much of the population should be vaccinated, meaning people will be able to “live more freely beyond that point”.
I’m giving this more thought than I perhaps should…

Sorry to hear that. I suspect if you were infected a week or so after vaccination, your immune system would likely still be recovering from the vaccine. You could be as or more vulnerable.
