They do

Why do people assume they’ll catch Omicron if Delta still has a big impact on admissions?

Some other online are posting to expect delays, contingent on AP capacity to do home deliveries once stocks arrive at Distribution Centres.
Guessing that Vic Government stocks, when they arrive, will be mostly distributed through test sites .Feds are supposed to be working with States on ways to get kits to those most in need. ATM Feds may be using its own stocks in Aged Care.

Standing in line for my booster appointment for 12.30 at the Repat. 2hr wait. Sigh…

Our boy tested positive today. Has a fever and sore throat. Took us most of yesterday to find an antigen test… friend ended up kindly giving us one. Trying to get official test but so many closing sites down today and the ones that are open are not taking anymore people. Its a mess out there in terms of Govt testing sites and confused as it was obvious numbers would double… especially after New Years parties. Govt in ViC and Federal have dropped the ball significantly on this.

You know, I’m sort of more worried about dad in hospital catching covid then dad in hospital due to whatever it is he has (they think they know but testing continues).

Not unique to Victoria, NSW, Qld and Tasmania experiencing similar problems, due to private labs unable to cope, Feds taking over some for Aged Care testing , and insufficient supplies of RAT kits.
Jeroen said today need to be patient with PCR result times, some ballooning beyond 5 days.
Taking personal responsibility to a new level on socialising and mobility.

TBH the supply of RAT’s don’t concern me as much as food supplies. The stores are emptying thanks to a mixture of panic buying and a stack of those in logistics and transport in isolation. I’d give it a couple of weeks tops before Supermarkets are empty unless something changes.

CDC in the US reduced the isolation period for a positive test down to 5 days.

I suspect that’s largely to keep the workforce in the workplaces. Can easily hit a critical mass of workers in isolation and everything stops.

It’ll be hella ironic if/when “opening up” creates more disruptions to peoples lives than the lockdowns.

I spent NYE camping in the Victorian high country, well beyond phone reception.

Holy crap did you all let this get out of hand while I was away. Definite Tomorrow when the War Began vibes.
