Warmer weather will help too.
It will be interesting to see what happens in the NH once the weather starts cooling there.

Try not to think about it… ain’t gonna be pretty I don’t reckon.

Could improve in the Sunbelt, where people currently indoors with air onditionets going full blast because of the temps.

Hopefully it’s fizzles out quicker than other similar viral pandemics as I don’t fancy a decade of restrictions!

Florida and Texas would disagree that warm weather helps

CNN are a bunch of anti-vaxxer lunatics

thats where vaccines come in. We get one of those and restrictions will end as quickly as it can be rolled out on mass (FWIW im totally for it being opt-in). Unless we can eliminate community transmission, like NZ have.

But that horse has clearly bolted, so it’s get the numbers back down to a manageable level, then ride it out with some reduced restrictions until an effective vaccine or treatment arrives.

There does seem to be empirical evidence that the virus is less transmissible in warmer climates. However, if you do stupid stuff, as the Americans are happy to demonstrate, it’s still highly infectious.
Similarly India being hot doesn’t compensate for the extreme overcrowding in that country.

Whether they mark an easing of restrictions or not*, I’m not confident of vaccines being any sort of silver bullet.
The research I’ve found on the flu vaccine suggests it’s only 50% effective and then we need to factor in how many will get it.
If it’s half of our population (for ease of math) that’s only 5 million out of 20+ who will actually be immune to COVID.
Kinda like catching water with a sieve.

*i think politically at least the introduction of the vaccine would be the optimal time to ease restrictions irrespective of how effective it will be

Need more testing. Still not reaching 20k. We haven’t tested this low since June.

This is great

The flu is a very different beast to Covid 19

Warmer weather doesnt help. Read Hong Kong and Singapore.

Community transmission rose by a whopping 280, the highest single day rise we’ve had by far.

Which makes the likelihood of an effective vaccine even worse.
Particularly as a vaccine for other SARS viruses doesn’t exist* ie no one in humanity has managed to do what we’re pinning our hopes of returning to normal on

*to my knowledge. happy to stand corrected.

So HK has backed down after two days of restaurants only offering delivery or takeaway. Now its back to dine in for breakfast and lunch. This change is after 9 consecutive days of 100+ cases with 40% being from unknown sources. Bizarre.
