Covid 19 - Round 7 - Keep calm and don’t go to the butcher

That is very dissappointing.
It is the reluctance to change behaviour that will bring things undone again.
People are so stupid.

I wonder if the portable snoop cameras being set up at parks was to identify this kind of behaviour and to have evidence to issue fines.

But can have your park meeting away from the view of the camera.

I’ve already forgotten what the thresholds for stage 2 are, so you can feel important by telling me if you like!

I know stage 3 is less than 5 cases a week…

It’s more that we have been locked down for more than 60 days and people have had enough. Kids are climbing the walls and can’t do anything. Only so far can you entertain kids and do face timing family and friends when you can only stay in 5km.

Expect more sadly.

We did the same thing. Met some friends at the park. Ensured we socially distanced while kids played. Our wives watched the kids and chatted, while my mate and I played dice games (using our own dice and wearing masks) while seated 1.5m apart.

Not close together like some families we have seen at parks.

Part of the disregard is due to the specific restriction being a bit over the top and also the novelty of playgrounds actually being open again.
Under the proposed shift to 5 people, it would still be illegal for most families to get together even if limiting to the 2 household limit. Couple of parents with kids and you’re beyond 5 straight away. Even single parents with kids in tow will go beyond the 5 cap limit. Bigger families would still be precluded from seeing anyone else. Easing this restriction to 10 people across two households allows people to legally gather with another family in public without recrimination and people would then be less inclined to completely take the ■■■■ and gathering 25 people.

No issue with that SB.
It’s the fools who won’t distance or mask up.

14 day ave 30-50/day. Well inside already and will be well under that by midnight Sunday.

some of these parks in estates are that tiny with 6 or more families on a nice day make it hard to socially distance anyway and everyone touches equipment.

Correct.
We have 700+ active cases.
We’d only be picking up current cases.

Thanks. To be clear, I speak on behalf of someone I know well. I’m just a boring IT guy.

Interesting video from a travel blogger. Insight into life in Egypt during COVID.

Sorry, I meant the next stage. < 14 isn’t it?

Nope, 30-50 on Sept 28th.

What would the reaction be if Dan came out and said “the numbers aren’t between 30 and 50 so have another two weeks of stage 4”?

This Sunday is 30 to 50 14-day daily new metro case average. We hit that.

Late October is <5 14-day daily new case average. We’ll get very close if not match it or beat it.
Late October is also <5 14-day total unknown infections. That’s tough, but it’s tracking well.

Late November is 0 14-day total new infections. Straight line trent is we make it. I have doubts. NSW aren’t operating on straight line trend. They are bouncing between lower ranges.

Covid Normal has no timeline attached to it. 0 total cases in the last 28 days and 0 total active cases in the last 28 days.

This is the problem. No new cases for a month and no active cases is not Covid normal… that’s simply not attainable.

He’s not going to do that.
Saturday night they’ll decide to move to the next stage.
And as for moving to the next step now…
Four days of the current stage is going to be more valuable in numbers than four days of the next one. Getting a head start on the next stage is very important, because it means if we have small spikes, we have a bit of a buffer in there.

I don’t blame them for being cautious.
It shows they have learned from previous mistakes.
I just hope they stay vigilant.

It was a bit of a joke that we’ve done too well so we’re now not within the 30-50 range. Not very funny, granted.

I agree with your call for caution
