Cricket Part II

Good rules question…

That second last ball where Paine was hoping to run 3 and retain the strike, but the ball actually reached the boundary.

What’s the go if the ball stops inside the boundary, and the fieldsman kicks it over the boundary?

Think it’s a 5 run penalty on top of the 4?

Well played Lyon. 48 balls to go!

Good 50 by the skipper.

Lol

It legit wasn’t, but this is… Australia will hold on from here

COME AT ME

That’s where the fielder needs to have been practising the well disguised fumble over the goal line for a behind

I thought it was seven, like an overthrow, but I could be wrong.

Lol, how did that not hit!

I thought it would be a 7 too…but not sure if would count as penalty runs to the batting side.

Treated as overthrows. All 7 to the batsman

Mike Hussey needs to change his voice. Sounds too much like Michael Clarke and Clarke offends me.

Found it

19.8 Overthrow or wilful act of fielder

If the boundary results from an overthrow or from the wilful act of a fielder, the runs scored shall be

_ any runs for penalties awarded to either side_

and the allowance for the boundary

and the runs completed by the batsmen, together with the run in progress if they had

_ already crossed at the instant of the throw or act._

However I read that as 12?
-3 runs
-4 overthrows
-5 penalty runs?

Which means Paine would have kept the strike. Makes sense.

4 overs

20/20 hindsight, I know…but Lyon would have been more psychologically suited to bat at 8 in this situation rather than Starc or Siddle.
