10th wicket partnership of 12, highest of the innings!
Carey made bugger all too.
Nevill 20 in his only dig.
I’ve never seen the attraction with Paine apart from nickyd.
He’s made 2 first-class tons I think…in about 10 years. He’s not that good a keeper.
Tassie imported Jake Doran as a keeper from NSW last year. That didn’t go well. He’s now just opening the batting.
And Wade batting 5 has pushed two legitimate prospects in McDermott and Webster to 6 and 7.
Whiteman didn’t play, not sure why not, but Inglisdid nothing with the bat…nor did Pierson.
Tassue all-out for their lowest-ever total - 63. So that means WA, QLD and NSW start the Shield season with outright wins.
The main Thing that came out of the Sheffield Shield is Starc is a bona fide gun, and Aussies have trouble playing him.
He’s deadly against right-handed tailenders when he can comes around the wicket - he’s just too quick for ‘em.
Shield games start with 3/45, 3/48 & 2/35.
Aussie batting stocks are dire.
Or their bowling stocks are healthy
Cook out second ball in ashes warm up
Head and Lehmann flaying the Vics now
Both out now 5-193 with Lehmann 103 and Head 67. Both to Boland.
NSW 5-165 with Smith out for 76. Hughes on 25, Nevill 5. Henriques quack.
Tassie 6-112 with Wade out for 9. Pushing McDermott and Webster to 6 and 7, where Wade should be batting.
I haven’t seen much, but some of starc’s stuff was unplayable. Just good bowling conditions, still a bit of juice in the wickets, generally the conditions dry out and become more bat friendly as summer progresses.
S Marsh 2 and Cartwright 0 both out to Hazelwood.
Renshaw out for 1
Maxwell currently on 23
Jake Doran just got a pair against Queensland.
Wasn’t he touted as some sort of Ricky Pontingesque batting prodigy as a junior.
Went from NSW to Tassie as a keeper/batsman…and they gave him a go ahead of Paine. Then brought Paine back.
Now opening with Wade back there.
Wade is listed as coming in at 7 this innings. That’s where he should be batting when there are specialist batsmen behind him.
M Marsh just bowled for a duck by Hazelwood (3/3).
How are you watching this? What channel is it on?
So both Marsh brothers have secured their spots in the ashes lineup.
On the cricket Australia website, I think you have to sign up.
It’s free, but you can’t get the internationals for free.
You can get the England games when they’re playing the states - men and women.
Maxwell out for 60.
Vics batting well, I popped in for a couple of hours this arvo whilst the wife went shopping.
