Cricket Part III

Million dollar question.
Batsman obviously assumed it had gone dead. Wasn’t even watching.
But it’s not just the batsman’s call, is it?

(Hadn’t gone to the keeper, defensive edge/prod that had trickled down to slip)

Shouldn’t ever have the whites on again IMO.

I’m fine with him as an ODI/T20 player.

Vic’s 1/87 at lunch.

Sounds out to me. Did he return to his crease after he nicked the ball? I know I would never be wandering outside my crease if the ball was with someone in the slips - other than if it had gone via the keeper.

Out then.

Batsman should be more aware.

Important point.
If he never touched his bat back then tell your story walking, pal.

That was the vague consensus, but it would’ve been 60/40

Batsman politely disagreed with the decision, made a good trail of divots as he walked off.

Oh, and on the mankad thing…
I thought the rule was changed so that it only applied to that hilarious second video.
If you’ve entered your delivery then you can’t mankad.

If that’s not what it is, then it should be.
You can take the bails off if your hand is already next to the stumps.
And in that case, you shouldn’t have to give a warning.
The holding on to the ball and bringing your arm around, yeah. That deserves a warning.

It used to be that you couldn’t mankad once you’d entered your delivery stride and that was tossed out because it meant a batsman could charge off as soon as the bowled leaps into the crease and be 2m down the crease with no recourse.

Hmmmm.
Seems it’s difficult to have a happy medium.

But I’m firmly on the side of, ‘the runner is cheating, fark him.’
The warning is a courtesy.
To a cheat.

Vic 3 - 113.
This batting line-up has been flaky all year (it is really the bowling which has saved the day), and we have an extremely long tail in this game.

Simple rule is you can’t leave your crease until the ball is bowled.

Harris carrying them again. Not ideal with a long tail.

Harris tons up, 4/203.

Patto has a 1st Class 100 in a Shield final from memory. Couple of years ago in Alice Springs. Might need another one here…

Or maybe it was Tremain.

Pattinson’s highest 1st class score is 89*.

Must’ve been tremain.

Simple thing was that when Ashwin was ready to bowl, Buttler was inside his crease.

Ashwin was cheating, and didn’t have to be given out by the third unpire.
