There will be a lot of bomberblitzers hurt by this news as well, reflecting on their own or their family or a friends battle. Stay strong. You got this. Massive hugs for you.

Very sad news, condolences to family and friends and may Dale RIP.

Very sad news, best wishes to this family and friends.

Nothing ever prepares you for news like this. Even when you know someone is seriously ill such news is still shocking, as it snuffs out our hopes that somehow the afflicted person will not only survive but thrive and recover. Such flights of fancy are without foundation and in vain, but it doesn’t stop us from feeling that way anyway. Such is the case today, with Dale Tapping. From reports he sounds like a top bloke and his family, although they would have known the end was coming, would still be feeling a heavy weight over his loss. I wish them all the bast. As for Tapping, RIP now that the pain and suffering are over.

The Selwood case is different, but the pain for the family no less acute, their loss no less acute. His life over while only half lived. His death reminds us all of our own mortality and the need to pay regard to our mental health. RIP.

Edit: My best wishes go out to all those Blitzers also struggling under the burden of these insidious diseases.

Dale Tapping - RIP. I can still remember him playing HBF for Prahran in the late 1980s.

I agree well said but I would challenge hope is without foundation. There are plenty of stories of survivors out there who way outlived the statistics and medical predictions. I myself have a good friend who was given 3 months tops with a brain tumor. She had just given birth after years of IVF, it’s crushed us all at the time. One doctor risked operating on her and miraculously got most of it but they still didn’t give her much hope. That was 8 years ago and she just sent another message to me only last month that her latest scan still shows tumour has no growth. She is the most inspirational person I know because throughout it all she was postive even when that child she had just given birth to was diagnosed with luekemia on Christmas day when she was just 2 years old. I ■■■■ you not, shes an absolute warrior. Her daughter also got through treatment for that and is living life large. To all of you inflicted with this terrible disease in one of its many forms, remember you are a statistic of one, never stop fighting.
