I didn’t include the liqueurs, wines or fortified stuff. Sorrow of sorrows, I have finally finished my Laphroaig 10 y.o. Have replaced it with a Highland Park 10 y.o. and the 23 St Distillery Hybrid Whisky and Signature Gin in 200ml bottles that Aldi was selling. Trying to convince the family to buy me the Glenfarclas 10 y.o. from Aldi this week for 69.99.
Ive heard the term mickey which I suggested. Think I picked it up in Canada though.
375ml is a half bottle, 750 was the old full bottle standard (some are now 700).
200 should be called the idiot because you pay $20 for 1/4 of a $40 bottle.
Some pretty fancy stuff (single malts) only come in 200mls.
On something like bundy tho, i can only imagine its handy for camping/travel and you don’t have a hipflask on you.
Nothing too flashy, but makers mark is my go to choice, might be the memories attached to it.
It is great for making old fashioneds
Also like the JB double oak. That Woodford reserve sounds intriguing, going to add that to the list.
Have you tried Pappy van Winkle? (Despite the name, this is not a joke).
Couple of empties to mull over.
The Redbreast 15 was/is a sensational drop, although not that affordable as a regular “sipper” over here- more of a special occasion.
The Bearface is a really good local Canadian whiskey and is my current weekly “sipper” of choice. Don;t know if you can get it back in Oz.
Check out Ned’s. The branding is naff but the whiskey is built to be an Aus version of Makers (High wheat bourbon). I really like Makers.
Yep. Not a bad drop.
The Redbreast 12 y.o. is about $120 over here. I got the son a bottle for his 21st. Little bugger didn’t even give me a sip.
I bought my old man a bottle of Lagavulin 16 for his birthday on the condition he keep some for when we’re out of lockdown. It was recommended to me by my mate Ron. Haven’t tried it yet myself but he says it’s beautiful.
I’m currently drinking a Glen Moray Port Barrel. It’s alright I spose.
A couple of my mates have been raving about this. Have you tried it?
Just convinced him to give me a nip. 12 y.o. on ice, lovely mouth feel, no burn, ■■■■ that’s smooth. I can see why it costs what it does. Very nice. If I ever get the chance to get it duty free again I will buy two.
Ok then, the 12 year old over here is around $80- the 15 year old around $129, (depends on any specials). May have to go the 12 and see if the difference is worth the price.
Thought it may have been a bit early in the Season to hit the Neighbours & my Gin with a splash of Tonic… turns out it’s not, … not at all …
Expensive and with a very good rep that stuff
I’ve been eyeing off a bottle of the Wolf release. The symphony is very good so I’m wondering if the wolf can top it.
