Probably paying st Kilda half of what they did with us in the sponsorship.
We may have also taken a larger cut on profit of the jumper sales. Lots of commercial factors.
Poor on field does lead to poor merch sales, but also we have do much crap in the store. Focus on good products.
IMO Isc stuff is not as good quality compared to Adidas, I have bought some. WIll buy more with under Armour though i think.
like its more like a generic essendon HoodyâŚcompared to a Adidas Essendon Hoodie.
Used to like that you got discount at the Adidas shop for being a EFC member too.
Itâs a big problem in those contracts, the amount you have to pay the apparel partner usually absorbs a big chunk of the margin on the sale products. If they went too hard to get Essendon and weâre not able to get sufficient volume then they would almost be loosing money on the deal.
Surely to some extent the low sales would also be due to ISC not being a âcoolâ brand like Adidas or Nike (especially for off-field wear). Under Armour may fare better.
Itâs actually in the team branded stuff where they loose the money. As that is supposed to cover the fee they pay the club. If the team apparel (jumpers, polos etc) doesnât sell enough it can really hurt. The icing is being able to leverage to brand recognition for your own line.
