EFC HPC progress

They should have lowered the roof some more to help with our fwd 50 entries.

VFL games will stay at Windy Hill (as will the restored Hall of Fame etc).

Might be a few off-season inter or intra-clubs in Tulla, when everything else is being used for cricket.

The indoor training ground looks good. The MCG oval looks good.

The balcony is meh.

Kitchen, showers, changerooms and players lounge are supremely unimpressive. They actually look........cheap?

Pool area looks claustrophobic and the ceiling looks too low.

Perhaps we should have all donated more to the Flight Plan?

I have a problem with the height of the roof. Will this mean that Daniher can no longer mark it at its highest point?  :(

I wonder if both grounds are turfed with the same grass as the MCG and Etihad?

they should do a grand designs episode on the high performance centre with the sentimental narrations and everything.

And with the obligatory: "ooh, I think they'll push to get it finished in the time allotted, and with the budget. Billy and Mary have overstretched themselves". Then, miraculously, everything is fine. Every ■■■■■■■ episode.

Think it might be a bit different when its actually finished, and not witnessed via a pretty amateurish recording.

Pretty ■■■■■■ impressive.

Wears all sorts when they're putting down foundations, battling the weather, struggling with contractors, but you know when Kev breaks out the blue blazer ■■■■ IS GETTIN DONE.

He would be in the blue blazer ALL THE TIME.

Yep. And seriously, saying something looks cheap when it is yet to be fitted out is mind boggling. What's cheap - the plasterboard?.

High Performance Centre nears completion

2:31pm AEST Thursday, September 5, 2013

High Performance Centre nears completion   The sheer size and scale of the entire precinct, not to mention the world class facilities inside the training and administration base will blow the club‘s members and supporters away.

Construction of the building is now approximately over 80% complete. On-site there is plenty of work being done in the areas of tiling, remaining plastering and the road works are continuing. In the coming weeks, our members and supporters will see the construction site transform into a complete building.

Membership
The Member Services team will be relocating to the High Performance Centre and will no longer have a presence at Windy Hill. Should you need to speak to a representative in person, you can visit the High Performance Centre where a Member Services Officer will greet you at reception. Other service channels will remain the same with a team on the phone and email during business hours. Remember to visit membership.essendonfc.com.au for information on all the 2014 Membership Packages.

The Bomber Shop
The Bomber Shop will have a new club store at the High Performance Centre. Located on Level 1 near reception and the new café, it will be the best new place to purchase all your official Essendon merchandise direct from the club. In addition you‘ll still be able to shop online at bombershop.com.au and visit the store at Windy Hill, Napier Street.

Windy Hill Venue
The Windy Hill Venue wishes to advise patrons that the premises will continue to remain at the corner of Brewster and Napier Street following the club‘s training and administration base relocation to the new High Performance Centre. The Windy Hill Venue would like to acknowledge its valued patrons and looks forward to continuing to provide excellence in bistro food, entertainment, functions and more. Call 03 9230 0335 for all bistro enquiries.

Tours
Site tours will be available to interested members and supporters in the coming months. Visit essendonfc.com.au for all the latest information on the upcoming club tours.

Open Training
The Club will advise of open training sessions at the new High Performance Centre as soon as this information comes to hand. Keep visiting essendonfc.com.au for these announcements.

Time Capsule
To launch the official opening of the new High Performance Centre, a Time Capsule will be buried and will incorporate memorabilia and paraphernalia to honour our significant and rich past at Windy Hill. The top 10 recommendations from staff, members and supporters include:

•         Honour Roll of Every Known EFC Player Since 1873

•         Full Team Signed 2013 Guernsey

•         2013 Membership Package

•         Sample of Turf from Windy Hill

•         Image of First Football Game at Windy Hill from 1922

•         Copy of the Club Constitution

•         List of all Flight Plan Donors

•         Newspaper From The Day The Capsule Is Sealed

•         AFL Record and Gate Ticket from Round 23

•         Progressive Construction Images of the High Performance Centre
Congratulations to Essendon supporter Yarri Rahaley who was selected as the Time Capsule Competition winner. Yarri won a 2013 team signed guernsey, double passes to the club‘s Round 14 game against West Coast and will be present at the official High Performance Centre opening ceremony.

Maybe cheap was the wrong word.

Did the cabinets in the kitchen not look like a Bunnings flat pack?

Maybe its just me.

Do you want the players to spend all their time in the kitchen, player's lounge & change rooms OR in the gym & ovals?

I know where I want the money spent and it's on the latter, not the former.

That is epic.

Only query is 8mm rubber flooring in the gym? Seems a bit thin.

You're right, in fact why have anything other than a gym, a couple of footballs and the MCG sized oval...

If you think it's impressive based on what you've seen, great.

I think there are elements that are excellent such as the MCG oval and the indoor training ground, and some that appear average at this stage.

Personally I'm waiting to see the completed 'world-class' facility that Evans promised.

At a supposed 25 million dollar spend, hopefully it's still on it's way.

That is epic.

yeh but that covers ten metres of sponge

And we've got tons of cotton wool.

lol

I still think the ovals would probably get some night lights installed at some stage.

apparently there will be a café there for fans and people?

Let's just build a 40,000 seat stadium and be done with Etihad. No having to share revenue. Provide our own catering. Lasting legacy to the club from Little and co.
