Elite Bulldogs Vs Essington Rabble (Match Review Thread)

Geez knuckles. Is that your name because that’s what you type with?

Wasn’t the main problem, but it certainly didn’t help matters

Thanks BDS. Yes some supporters can go way over the top and it is hard trying to make them understand the futility of that type of behaviour. The players already feel bad and know they have grossly underperformed. They know there could be repurcussions with their jobs on the line and the same goes with the coaches. They just don;t need supporters to kick them when they are down. I am not saying we don’t show our displeasure but just not in such an aggressive manner. After all, like you said, it is only a game of football.

There are definitely plenty of supporters who aren’t impatient, but rather annoyed at the strategy. There have been many people saying we should have done a rebuild of the list and club to get back to where we want to be from a solid base.

But there are also the kind of people who were frothing at the mouth about a lack of effort and terrible coaching during 2016, who were ■■■■■■■ livid that we were playing off for a wooden spoon with half a team bulked up with has beens and never weres. That was unacceptable, that wasn’t “Essendon”, we wouldn’t have accepted that in 2000 let me tell you. That group isn’t going to sit patiently through a rebuild. They’re going to lean over the fence screaming abuse at players and coaches because eighteen months into a rebuild we’re not going to make a prelim.

You simply don’t get appointed head coach at Essendon if you say “we need to ■■■■ off the senior players, rebuild the list, and totally transform the club” Even if you can make a case for the last two, you have to promise to do it while still making finals. And once you’re committed to that, once you’re not allowed to be bad, once making finals is preferable to getting better, well then you get what we’ve got.

I find this a very entitled frame of mind. You pay money so you can watch a game and show your support. You take the good and the bad in any relationship. Carrying on like a ■■■■■■ pork chop like your mate was, is immature and childish as fark.

Anyone else watch the from the coaches video and say out loud “■■■■ off John” “■■■■ off Harves”

Lloyd mouthing off, as with any ex-champions who do it to their old clubs, ■■■■ me off no end.

Don’t like whats happening? Put your money where your mouth is and offer to help. I can’t stand Judd, but ■■■■, at least he walks the walk.

Sorry but what more can they say?

They were honest I thought

Do not be too surprised when we win next week

I will be stunned if we get within 10 goals. We are deadset cooked.

You can’t turn around that kind of form quick. We if we win it’s a miracle.

I was at the game against the Crows in 2015.
Words cannot describe the disgust.
Last night was embarrassing. I’ve found myself wondering all day wtf is going on at this once great club.

It’s mainly a culture issue - Essendon are satisfied with being mediocre. This is a disease that infects all new players coming to the Club (Brendan Goddard excepted).

Doesn’t matter how good the list may be - if the burning desire to achieve success isn’t paramount then nothing will be achieved.

I can imagine the back slapping, self congratulation if Essendon ever win an elimination final. The Club and players will feast on that for years.

I’ll confess in my 40 odd years of going to AFL games there have been a couple of times where I was so angry after a game I have gone to the players race to give the team a serve. When I got there it was obvious the players were hurting and I thought it was pointless, so I didn’t do it (and would not do it now). Not only that, you realise it’s human beings you would be shouting at, not robots.

I think it’s legit to be frustrated at games such as yesterday though. I don’t believe in cheering the team off if they lost by 100 points and obviously threw in the towel in the first quarter. I think silence and empty seats lets them know we are not happy without resorting to abuse.
