English Premier League 2018/19

Almost on cue…enter…

First day I hit London in 1978, Millwall fans threw a West Ham fan under a tube train.

Don’t understand the mentality. I don’t like Carlton at all but I’d never dream of getting into fights with random people just because they support a different team to me. It’s great how I can go to a game with mates who are rival supporters, have a good time together and not worry about my safety or being segregated in terms of where we sit. It really is out of order…

40+ years on and nothing has changed. A violent culture embedded at Millwall. I’m sure there are some decent supporters, however, the nuff nuffs continue to stir up trouble. I agree with Smooth. There is no need for it and I would hate to see any kids witnessing that sorta extreme violence (and having their safety put at risk).

That’s why Poms can never believe it when they come to an Aussie Rules game and fans are intermingled together, and violence is comparatively rare.

Their fans are segregated.

I read that once segregation came in in the late 60’s iirc, it made ■■■■ like that worse. Treat them like animals, fences etc, and they’ll behave like it.

Name a more mundane club that’s been in the League that long and still manages to do ■■■■ all each season.

More than half these scuffles are supporters who don’t even attend games and just go to cause trouble. I’ve got a couple of United cousins who do go to games and hardly ever have issues these days but the third one who is a hardcore nutter just catches the train down to wherever United play with a group of about 50-60 others and just go into the local pubs for fun looking for blues. He wouldn’t have been to a game for 20 years I don’t think. This is still quite common in England with sets of fans doing it each week for fun

Most of the fights are organised in advance (as they have always been). Am well aware of that.

There are reports that Millwall fans waited outside the Surrey Quays station for Everton fans to rock up before the fight occurred. Whether that was the arranged place or whether it was a surprise attack has yet to be determined. Millwall fans weren’t waiting in mobs at the station to give the Toffee fans a friendly escort to the ground, though. It happens everywhere, but Millwall fans are consistently rated the worst for a reason.

It just annoys me when the media portray it as soccer violence when very little of it occurs during or at the games and is just organised hooliganism

I saw games in London both before and after splitting the warring tribes.

It was much better at the games, virtually stopping all the mayhem, but then it spread to the streets after the game. Then police blocked streets and fan couldn’t get at each other, except they then clashed before games. So streets were barricaded before games.

In the late 1980’s, I lived in Bath, a lovely place except when the Saturdays when the two teams from Bristol were playing. They could not play in Bristol due to riots, so the games were transferred to Bath.

Special trains for each group, shops had all their windows boarded over, hundreds of police lined the routes the animals marched from the station to the ground. No sane person in Bath went anywhere near it.

I was also living in UK when Germany beat England in a World Cup or European Cup; hundreds of BMW, Mercs and other German cars were vandalised or destroyed by soccer lunatics. Many of whom were well paid blokes with professional careers.

Sounds like ex-Hawthorn player, Tony Hall, getting his car keyed when he returned to Adelaide, because he hadn’t swapped out his rego plates.

At least Son should be back for the next game.

“Trophies on build ego’s”

He’ll be at spurz for life then,

Yep, not a good comment from Poch. Maybe taken out of context but still…

I think he’s trying to deflect disappointment in the past two games, but reading on, did mean that they’re aiming/building for top 4/champions.

You should try and win any trophy you can. They can’t win PL so go hell for leather for the FA cup and League Cup. The fans want that. They could still have gone for the FA cup and make top 4. It is unlikely that both Arsenal AND Man U will both leap frog Spurs

I agree. Get the fans some silverware.

The Devils are pretty good value at $9.00 the way they’ve been rolling.

A lot will depend on the draw of course,… but I’ve just dropped a 50 on them.

What time is the draw our time btw?
