Agree with that⦠when we are up and about⦠borderline unstoppable. There was a period in the 2nd quarter where we pinned them in the F50 for about five minutes of actual game time with non-stop ferocious pressure. Was unbelievable how little time Geelong hadā¦
Attacking chains were brilliant through the middle⦠but I love that defensive pressure the most.
I think we need to understand what was happening in the first three and realise that that wonāt work every week. Itās not so much the standard in effect, the intent might be though. But if so, we canāt all scream at the errors.
Yes, as opposed to standing near / getting in the way of JD or Hooker. The 3 talls worked well away from each other, which is very promising in their first game together.
Goddard was on the Sunday footy show and seemed to indicate that the playing group had a word to Zaka during the week about his performances so far this year, saying he was performing well below what heās capable of. Looks like the talk worked!
Stewart is really good for our forward line. Heās very competitive, skillful athletic, heās in the play when it gets near him. I think this 3 tall 3 mid/small combo with him in the team is excellent.
Midfield played a much better game. Not to dampen the win which was fantastic, very happy to be 4/4 while playing so inconsistently, but geelong were pretty ordinary for the 3 quarters, edit VERY ordinary.A win is a win.
Now for the Mitchell game, err I mean the Eagles game
EDIT: Hurley is an absolute monty for All Australian full back,
Stewart was excellent early, allowed Hooker back to stabilise defence. Joe went back too, and having those guys floating means forward line unpredictable.
I am starting to think that Joe may be better than Buddy - certainly way better in the air, tho not as strong. He is equally as fast tho not as clean on ground, and can also kick goals from square or high flank.
He may even be the first forward I can recall to win a Brownlow as he does not have the big man aggro that Buddy and other forwards often have that umps donāt like.
Lot of pressure on him - he kicks straight we win, if not we lose, as he gets so much of ball, has many shots at goal. That is why I like Stewart in team, get Joe up ground make forward entries less focussed n Joe, which was Hawks error with Buddy.
Razās pick up in last that he dished off to Joe to goal to seal game was awesome, so clean.
Hooker to me looks out of sorts - Worsfold was happy with him but I wonder if needs game in twos - couple times he looked unsure. Not bad by any means, but not at level he can be.
Few clangers, but maybe due to heavy legs not having composure to slow game momentarily, esp Mackenna who was otherwise good.
Liking Parrish. Great Zaka adding his support to Zav down back and providing option, handball receives etc. I find is incredible how often Zac is there for defender to kick or handball to when in trouble. Works really hard, and if Zaka can duplicate this support as well as provide run then awesome.
Thought Dea was really good too,he burst out of defence in third to set up great attack, bit like Hibberd used to do, but he is better in air. hartley finding his way, Tommo his worse match up so did Ok. When Ambrose is fit a selection dilemma
