Cooney was a brownlow medallist and we massively overpaid for him. Fantasia’s value stems from one good season several years ago, and he’s hardly played since.
I wouldn’t be getting your hopes up on getting much for him, unfortunately.

I reckon front-ended contracts are bullshit and shouldn’t be a thing. I’m fine with contracts being front-ended ‘in principle’, meaning that on the club’s books and pertaining to player payment caps, amounts can be slid forward or backward - but the ultimate amount of payment to the player should be even across the contract duration. This crap with players signing on for a number of years, getting paid heavily up front, then deciding to go for something better halfway through is just not right to me, particularly when the player is young enough to have a future contract likely. Convince me otherwise.

Would love to see a breakdown of contracts ‘broken’ by either side and whether they were back or front ended.
I think it would be extremely dull.
I also think that while players have input into their contracts, by and large the frameworks are set out by the club for their own benefit.

So there’s no news on which club he wants to go to. Hopefully Adelaide rather than Port as an Adelaide third rounder is better than a Port one. If we even get that.
