Admirable but you would be in a pretty small minority with that view.
Because he was out of contract, he was a fringe player and now I am learning he was also a bit of a flog. And he ain’t best 22 at a team of any note.
Who gives a ■■■■ about Mass. He is a hawthorn ■■■■ now.
It happens.
Bramble was delisted by Hawthorn and is now best 22 at the Bulldogs. Peter Wright cost us bugger all in a trade.
Also, I’m happy for Mass. He seems an excellent kid. He’s making every post a winner at his new club. It’s the best possible combo at the moment: Hawthorn suck, and Massimo is doing well.
You obviously do because you came to his thread
Paul Cousins said he’s a lovely fellow on Scooters Podcast.
I relistened to an old but very awkward podcast with dodoro and Kelly last week.
Kelly will be a legit coach one day.
Maybe he sees it like shaking hands after the game? A sign of good sportsmanship.
Was it? I certainly never saw an attitude.
Nah, it means you’ll 100% end up playing for them when your contract finishes and you’re finally free
Of the admittedly limited number of our boys I’ve gotten to spend any meaningful time with. Mass I would say was the most genuine & likeable. Easy to chat with as friendly as could be. A positive bloke by nature. I don’t think the sub role ever sat comfortably with him & think it just happened a couple times too many for his liking. Maybe that’s a bit of an attitude on his part, he got his nose bent out of joint a bit by it. Then the Dawks got in his ear offering a lot more. So I can see why the extra year & opportunity with the Dawks was too hard to pass up for him. Still wish we could have kept him.
All this talk about Mass but nobody’s talked about his game on the weekend. How’d he go?
Pretty average.
Got the ball a bit.
One good kick when he was rushed.
Had a set shot at goal directly in front around 30m out and just missed it.
He won’t be consistently getting 25 possessions, but he’ll do okay.
I think he’s the kind of wingman certain Blitzers would love. Because he’s more of an attacking wingman.
But the role is more specialist than before. Ed Langdon forced all wingmen to be able to run pocket to pocket. It’s now more of a pre-requisite.
Would be interested to know what his running numbers are like. Sprint repeats, etc.
From ground level he seemed to be working pretty hard in both directions.
He’s not someone you watch and get amazed by his athletic prowess (unlike, say, Max Holmes or Josh Weddle), but he also doesn’t stand out as not putting in the required efforts.
I’m still irked we lost him. He looks like a player who will leave no stone unturned to make something of his career
I don’t blame him for leaving considering his treatment last year
Still absolutely ■■■■■■ we lost mass. Watching him play for the poos and wees just triggered me.
We lack good users of the ball and he was certainly one of those, our loss unfortunately.
Wow, Mass must have improved significantly judging by this thread… yeah nah. He’s average, had a good game against us (what a surprise) but will revert to type. 16 touches and 1 tackle against a young Cats side says it all. It even rained, perfect for someone of his size.
He doesn’t have the leg speed, height or toughness that would command a place in a contending side, which is why he’s at the Hawks.
Move on, we need to be looking for much better, not just someone who might be better than some of our current squad.
A grade copium
I say he’s not. Who you gonna believe?
