Four Vic Police killed by a truck on the Eastern Freeway

That is insane - the person has a death wish. Only problem he’ll probably take out someone else.

He was in a semi, it is not “likely” he had internal injuries from the crash, and has been reported that he wasn’t injured in the crash.

Passed as law a few years ago, must slow to 40. Not that anyone has bothered considering how to apply that safely on a freeway.

Yes

Yes the fact he was on the other side of the barrier saved his life.

This truck driver has killed 4 police people. He has no excuse for rear-ending police cars with flashing lights in the emergency lane at speed.

Yep the porsche driver is a tool and needs to be in jail for a stretch, but the truck driver is in a world of hurt. Very sad all round.

Agreed. The interesting development is that the police immediately following the incident chose to have a warrant issued for a search of the drivers house and as a result of that search have extended the investigation. Bit more to play out I expect.

Found something in the truck or the driver has priors himself.

If you kill 4 police at once, even if it’s through accident/carelessness, you can expect the investigation to go through your life with a fine tooth comb looking for reasons to lock you up for longer.

Pusey has been charged with more than enough to get a decent jail term.

Reckless conduct endangering life
Speeding
Failing to remain after a drug test
Failing to render assistance
Failing to exchange details
Possessing a drug of dependence
Destruction of evidence
Three counts of committing an indictable offence while on bail

It’s going to be interesting (for a lack of better term) how this plays out in court. Assuming he wasn’t possessing traffickable or commercial quantities of illicit substances, the maximum penalty he faces is 10 years for failing to render assistance.

But, I’m guessing his lawyer will argue that a 10 year penalty is for cases where the driver of the vehicle which caused the accident fled; and while what he did was morally reprehensible, he actually wasn’t directly complicit in the accident.

Nope, he never used the brakes until he had hit the Porsche. I suspect he wasn’t paying attention, saw the traffic suddenly slow down, flipped over to the emergency lane and figured he could just pull back in but then suddenly realised there were cars in the way and it was too late. I have seen trucks do it all the time on the Eastern.

As childish as it is I’m still struggling to get over the bloke’s name. I mean wtf?!

He’ll get time for a positive drug test whilst speeding whilst out on bail.

I hope the families of the cops sue his ■■■■ until he has nothing left.

Wonder if he was methd up too.

Yeah something about this isn’t right, I just hope it’s not a deliberate act

Yeah, absolutely no doubt he is going to serve jail time. But, I don’t think it’s going to be as long a sentence as everyone is hoping.

Oh, I’m 100% for karma coming back to bite him. He is absolute scum and deserves anything that comes his way.

I don’t know enough details of the crash, but I do understand physics and Newtowns 2nd law of motion.

And even at 60km an hour a big semi is going to do a world of damage if it hits anyone.

Doubt it is, but i guess these days you never know. Personally just think he wasn’t paying attention to traffic up ahead and had no idea the cops had pulled someone over. While most truckers do the right thing there are still a lot that should never be behind the wheel and of such a large and dangerous vehicle.
