Free Agency - who will we pickup

Gary Rohan is one worth chasing.

No.
He'd just be easy to chase, because his body is completely broken and he can't run any more.
There's a difference.

Despite the reservation by some on here, I'd take David Mackay as a FA if the price was right.

Breaks lines and is in the right age bracket.

He was terrific against the pies.

Kidding me? Stupid suggestion.

Last year you wouldn't have traded Carlisle for the No.1 draft pick such was his value....and you would trade him for a former no.1 who has been injured virtually his whole AFL career?!

Patton would be great to have but Carlisle is already a proven AFL star (forward experiment aside) which is quite impressive given his height, age and experience.  While I wouldn't completely write off him as a forward, I think he will eventually form a star studded backline partnership with both Hooker and Hurley. I would be all for us chasing Patton as long as it didn't cost us an arm and a leg.  I would trade Hurley for him plus a sweetener.

You MIGHT consider Hurley for another gun mid or tall fwd knowing one of Pears, Steinberg, or Gregory will make it.

Pears is alwayd injured. Has talent, but can’t catch a break.

Steinberg has been good in the 2’s all year but can’t get in the 1’s because of how well our back line has been (and the fact he needs to be upgraded).

Haven’t much about Gregory but obviously not a guarantee to make it.

Raiding GWS would be perfect as they have plenty of talls and plenty of young potentially gun mids who are depth atm. We also have a good trading record with em

Because none of Pears, Steinberg or Gregory are a patch on Hurley imo. That would be shooting ourselves in the foot big time.

Sorry Boot but that was what my initial post was about. The others haven't shown alot that they will become good defenders in the future so only trade Hurley if the coaching staff have full confidence that one of the 3 will make it which isn't looking likely lol.

Ask port how we can snap up the next polec

God that’s annoying

We wont get anyone until this off field stuff is sorted out. With so much uncertainty what player in their right mind would come to us.

In my opinion we already have the next Jared Polec. His name is Elliot Kavanagh. Kav came to the club coming off a serious hamstring injury. He was drafted a year later. Those saying he showed nothing as junior are talking out their ■■■. He made all australian from memory as an under age player. He was being ear marked as top 5 coming into his draft year but was cut down by injury. He was a risk but a risk worth taking at 19. Like Polec at Brisbane he is maligned by fans but I think it's a confidence thing. I remember numerous people at footy bagging David Myers and saying he wouldn't make it.

Chappy was a bit differant IMO.
Geelong gave him the ■■■■ and his friendship with Bomber probably got the deal done.
The uncertainty would be a big factor in enticing new players, even though im sure we wont receive any sanctions or suspensions the constant media speculation and innuendo must play on players minds especially when you hear people say this may still be playing out in 2016
Well thats how I see it anyway, I know about 8 years when I changed jobs I had interviews at a couple of places, 1 offered me a little more money but there was constant rumours that the business was struggling and talk of take overs etc, I took the job at the place with a lot less risk but a little less pay. The other company is flourishing still but im happy where I am also but my point is when weighing up a new job offer or change of clubs im sure players/managers take these things into consideration

The question would be whether losing Hurley + gaining gun midfielder/forward >>> whoever replaces him in the backline. Even if the players is average like Pears it could still be a better option.

saladin picked up an alter-ego?

I can't say I've seen anything from Kav to let me think he'll make it.

While I haven't seen enough of Kav to comment personally on his ability at AFL level it's very much a moot point as he is contracted until 2015

Carlisle to GWS for Boyd.

Anyone who suggests Carlisle in any more ridiculous trades should be banned.

While not a Free Agent apparently Jeff Garlett is keen on moving.
