Where was that posted??

Well it sort of started here and got more confusing.

Historically most terrorists are not of the Islamic faith, and all are not completely bad people. Most are fighting for their homeland or freedom. My family when I was a kid wee big supporters of the IRA

“these muslims”.

Would have helped to type “these muslim terrorists” to be explicitly clear.

I don’t think it’s the practice here or in UK for police to identify a killer by religion or of their place of birth in their initial advice . They may occasionally identify nationality.
I haven’t come across MSM headlines of a Christian or Muslim killer.

I can only lower the bar so much. Figure it out.

Wasn’t there a Jewish bloke who was mis identified by social media immediately after the stabbings? That spread quickly.

There was. It’s why it’s important for police and politicians to release information as soon as possible.

There were trolls falsely claiming it was a Jewish student , while the incident at Bondi Plaza was ongoing, fuelled by some sort of get together nearby of a few Jewish students.
The perp, who was shot dead , was subsequently identified as someone from NEQ . The father spoke, IIRC said he was a Christian, surname Cauchi ( a Maltese name?).
When that Burke Street madman was on the rampage, a bystander said he heard him shout Allah Akbar.
Heard what he wanted to hear. The murderer had a Greek name, cops had been tracking him, knew exactly who he was. The Muslim connection didn’t get legs.

Also important for people to not riot or set attempt to set fire to mosques, or hotels housing refugees, right?

If you think that releasing information would have somehow calmed the mob then I’ve got a bridge to sell you.

Absolutely it is extremely important to not riot, damage property and target groups based on their religious beliefs or ethnicity.

There are reasons for how people reacted, what happened and governments need to address it and not avoid it.

There are social divisions in many western countries based on race and ethnicity. Many people are being marginalised or at least feel like they are. You can see it with movements to the right in many European countries. These people are not all facists. They feel disillusioned and marginalised.

There needs to be real efforts to address what’s causing this and not just ignore them or call them far right or put them in prison for memes.

Just like with the BLM movement, many people felt that police and the system disadvantaged black people. Most would agree with that. There were riots because of that. Is that what we would want to see. Of course not. The rioters were fed up and expressed their anger.

Has enough been done to remove the inequities that black peoples face in the USA. Not many would say yes. It will happen again in the USA.

And the main one (in my opinion) is the way the media operates today.

It’s all about generating clicks and the juicier the story, the more clicks they get.

The mainstream media abrogated any responsibility to objective journalism in their chase for those clicks.

And the centralisation of media ownership has made it worse…think Murdoch and his impact in both the UK and USA…and even to a lesser extent (so far) here in Australia.

Fair enough. I’ve reread your posts and generally agree with the transparency angle. I would still be concerned that it would fuel the fire l. Tricky to counter people who are willing to travel to be jerks and can communicate via WhatsApp. Can I say they are easily-led?

Perhaps a bit like bushfire season there are people ready to go just waiting for the right conditions and a spark.

With the technology revolution, people are no longer reliant on the MSM for information. The old media barons of the fourth estate and their cosy relations with the ruling classes of political parties are losing their influence, they are being replaced by the new barons of the owners of social media sites, the Musks and the Zuckerberg (or in some cases State owned) which to some extent are more concentrated than the ownership of the MSM. The MSM are competing with social media, descending to click bait and rage bait. Good journalists are being squeezed out of the MSM and have found homes in social media to report.
And there are gutless political parties who won’t take on the owners of social media to introduce measures for standards which limit the harm of false and hate speech, worse in some cases than hard core ■■■■■■■■■■■.

Calls for Olympics gender row boxer Imane Khelif to be stripped of her gold medal from the Paris Olympics have been made following a leaked medical report.

The Sun reports new documents have emerged allegedly proving that Algerian boxer Imane Khelif, 25 is a “biological man”.

According to French magazine Le Correspondant, Khelif’s medical records from 2023 showed she had neither ovaries or a uterus.

The report was initially put together in 2023 via collaboration between French and Algerian expert endocrinologists working at the Kremlin-Bicetre hospital in Paris, and the Mohamed Lamine Debaghine hospital in Algiers, as reported by German newspaper BiLD.

Medical experts determined that Khelif allegedly has what is known as a “5a-reductase-2 deficiency.”

This is a sexual development that is outside the norm and can only occur in biological men.

Newborns with the condition are often classified as girls as the testes are located inside.

The two reports are part of Khelif’s medical records, which have been known to the International Olympics Committee since May 2023.

It is not yet clear whether the IOC will now initiate a retrospective investigation and revoke the gold medal.

For the 2024 Olympics, there were 7 weight boxing classes for men , 6 for women .
For the 2020 Olympics, there were 8 for men, 5 for women. Two extra weight categories were added for women, to accomodate the physical characteristics of women in Japan, the host nation.
Level playing field for weight. This appears to be based on an assumption that weight reflects power.

ok, thanks
