This story has fascinated me for a few weeks now…

“Japanese police are turning to tranquiliser guns in an attempt to stem the tide of wild monkey attacks that have been terrorising residents.

In recent weeks, 42 people have been reported injured in Yamaguchi city - including children and the elderly.

Injuries have varied, with local media reporting victims have received anything from scratches, bitten legs and hands, to bitten necks and stomachs.

Stories include a four-year-old girl scratched during an apartment break-in, while in another instance a monkey breached a kindergarten classroom.

Some residents have reported multiple incursions in their homes as the primates gain access by sliding screen doors or entering through open windows.”

Anne Heche was involved in a fiery car crash on Friday that has left her “severely burned” and “intubated” in the hospital, TMZ reports.

The Vanished actress, 53, was reportedly driving her blue Mini Cooper down a suburban street in Los Angeles around noon when she crashed into the garage of an apartment complex, the New York Post reports.

According to the outlet, bystanders tried to help Heche exit the vehicle, but she allegedly backed up and drove off before crashing into another home where her car became “engulfed” in flames.

Hitting the fan here.

WFP needs millions to get food to people, but Pakistan doesn’t attract the celeb philanthropists,
There are also refugee camps in Pakistan, UNHCR doing the basics in getting cooking implements and hygiene products to the women in the camps, within the constraints of a stretched budget.
One third of the country is flooded, deaths mounting .This is as devastating to the population as for the civilian population in Ukraine who have options as refugees elsewhere and who are getting financial and essential supplies from Governments, the UN and NGOs.

Know anywhere to donate where the funds will actually reach those who need them?

And places around the world have no access to safe drinking water, children are still being trafficked, organised crime is running rife yet here we are today watching endless news minutes of the Dusty scandal. :unamused:

Pakistan Consulate in Melbourne or High Commission in Canberra might have sites up on Pakistan specific appeals.
Any donations to WFP UNHCR or ICRC would increase their budgets so that they would have enough to commit in Pakistan. They all have country specific programs, operate in areas of need to the extent that governments allow them to, none of them discriminate on the basis of political worthiness or the political flavour of the month.
It’s a bit of a myth that international NGO’s making country specific appeals actually earmark the donations for that country.

wow.
