Gumtree D*ckheads

We got 2 large cycads for $40 (advertised price). Thought they were smallish. When I went to pick them up the bloke had dug them out already. The 2 of them filled the tray of my ute to overflowing. Needed my tractor with post hole digger and 4in1 bucket to move and plant them.
I gave him $50 and would’ve gladly paid him more if I had the cash just for his help.
Had plenty of good experiences both buying and selling. Actually had more issues wih people on ebay

Peacocks?

Yeah. We had three peacocks, a boy and two girls… the lady on the next property would encourage them over to her place with food when her grandkids were visiting.

So naturally they continued to visit after the grandkids went home. They pooped on her paving and she got a tad annoyed. We didn’t want to cage them so for the sake of neighbourly relations we found them a new home.

Still makes me sad.

Jousting sticks.

We had a similar experience with selling a kid’s toy. We had it on for $15 or something like that. It was good value at double the price but like most parents, you’d rather the toy goes to another kid than in the bin. Lady came around and offered us $5. We told her it’s $15. She then pulled out a $5 note and a $100 note and asked if we had change. Really? We could have held our ground but I’m not going to demean myself over $10. Just take it for $5 you crooked bint.

Seriously, bring the correct change for fark’s sake.

Can you eat peacocks and peahens? Serious question.

Yep, although I couldn’t attest to the quality of the eating.

I am looking for a car with a manual gearbox at the moment and alot of cars advertised on Gumtree and some other websites clearly state in all parts of the ad that the car is a manual ,but the pictures tell a different story . Do they actually know the difference between an auto and manual car ?

That said… I sold some audio gear to someone who paid $850 via paypal and the arrangement was to pick it up… he then never showed, never called and doesn’t reply to emails. About six months later he replied to email saying he was overseas and would get back in contact with me when he returned. It is still sitting in my garage.

“Hmmmm, it’s a chair. Not too sure it’s high enough. Better call my mate…”

I’ll give ya $15 but you’d have to deliver it m8

SOLD!

■■■■ that

Thats an old con there Diggers. They intentionally go in without exact change, a $100 is best as its unlikely the seller can change that. It’s their way of lowballing you without having to haggle.

Now the interesting bit is if you DID have change to break $100. I’d bet my left nut she would have offered you $10.

I would’ve said yeap, I’ve got $80 change, you can leave the $5 as a tip for not bringing the correct change.

I also would’ve raided the kids money box and paid some of it in gold coins just to ■■■■ them off even more.

Sometimes you just have to out ■■■■ people on principle.

Is that like the Melbourne Cabbie I got once, who had no coins for change? Funny making him drive to a nearby 7/11 when I insisted on getting every cent in change I was owed…

When Gumtree buyers do that, I just send them to the Servo down the road. Costs them full freight plus whatever they have to buy to get the note split…

I “sold” a fairly crappy trampoline for $0 - the kids wouldn’t use it’s saying there could be spiders on it (translated that means there was no screen of some type built into it).
It worked out well. The guy clearly didn’t have much money so his kids got something that they would probably appreciate. I got someone to help me pull it apart and I got rid of it.

I have had good experiences buying and selling on gumtree but I recognise all these stories.

Is he a fugitive? Lol
