If anyone wants to know what a true max lift looks like this deadlift rep took 9 seconds to complete lol
First day back. The guy from the gum asks if I’ve been working out in the time I’ve been away. At first I thought he was hinting “you look like you’re in good nik” then I realised he was taking the ■■■■…gonna have to work a bit harder outside the gym.
Only put on 5kgs over Christmas
That’s a PB. As in the least I’ve ever put on over a Christmas period. Pumped
Lost half a kilo
BIGBOI
U wotLost half a kilo
BIGBOI
Yep.
Didn't go near a gym, ate ■■■■, drank lots, irregular meals, approx 4 blocks of chocolate in 5 days... and I lose weight.
PHHHAAAT
■■■■■
That’s ridiculous
The alcohol has been a killer. It’s been three to four good sessions a week for the past month, really catches up… And the fact that I stopped counting at my 8th panettone
I budgeted for 8kgs to get to 90kgs, so pretty happy to be sitting at around 87, plus I cheated and snuck in two decent modified sessions a week through December, what I can do with my bung back
Will be back to playing weight at the end of jan. It’s been so worth it though, the dago spreads this Christmas have been off chops
Your metabolism is still a ■■■■ though
I've got that skip metabolism where I'm going to be skinny as ■■■■ up until about 30-35, then a 40kg gut will appear overnight.
That could be me too
Though it depends which parents genes I got
Mum’s side are all 5’9" and stout, dad’s are 6’2" and slim
I’m 5’11" and slim so who knows lol
Last training session for 2013 I hit a front squat pr of 120kg (previous done ages ago was 100 give or take) in a ■■■■■■ little Costa Rican gym in 85% humidity. Floor pressing on Thursday so hopefully start 2014 on a high with a nice pr in that as well!
anyone here done a acl before and tips to strengthen my leg and make my recovery shorter?
Take your time and accept right now it's going to be slow. You can strengthen the muscles, but no amount of exercise will make the graft 'take' any faster. You'll just mess it up if you go too hard too early - I made this mistake and I'm still paying for it 13 years later, though part of this is due to copping a lot of collateral damage in areas around the ligament, and having a rather inexperienced (but really hot...) physio.
Lol met a bum this morning getting my coffee and he told me a story how he hadn’t trained for 20 years (he was 58) and had just started going back to the gym running test and deca. He also said in his first session back he did deadlifts AFTER preacher curls and tore his bicep
Lesson: don’t deadlift like a tard and don’t deadlift with tight or fatigued biceps
Damn, apparently some crossfitter severed his spinal cord attempting a ****** in a comp yesterday or today
really?
the board filters out this movement?
No, it filters out the word. But then, you knew that.
Did a 1000 steps yesterday. A bit more full on that I expected but not too bad!

How is it near the end (but you don't know it's near the end at the time), and the steps get bigger, and you think " f*ck me, I may have to stop " ?
It's pretty challenging if you haven't done much cardio for a while, particularly since you need to walk up an incline for a bit before you even begin the steps !
dropped 2.5k in 1 week.
cut sugar and all starchy carbs
walked an hour and a 1/2 a day

I dropped 2.5K last week, that's pretty much what a year of crossfit costs
Lol ^
I don’t really got how they can charge so much
You can pay $10 a week to do the equivalent in a gym class at a ‘normal’ gym
I’ll be charging 700(3+ year members) to 1200(newbies) per annum, but everyone will have some degree of individualism to what they’re doing as opposed to cookie cutter WODs
im almost allowed to do what i want after having hip surgery.
but im above my playing weight and at around 95kgs atm. im 6'3" but still, too much beer. which is so hard to cut out given my circles of friends.
gonna try lighten up though.
generally im going to the gym and doing the following, cutting a few in and out each session, but heres the exercises i rotate:
treadmill 2-3km at about 5:30-6:00min each km
bench press - 50-60kg
preacher curl - 20x15x3
deadlift (once a week but cant re-start doing this yet) - 70-90kg
tricep pulldowns - 21x15x3 or now moving to 24x10x3
chest press (sometimes) - 45-55x10x3
dip machine straight leg raises 3x15 (at 3x10 atm due to hip and coming back slowly)
shoulder press dumbbell - 10x10x3
hyperextentions - 12x3
squats (off limits still)
bike (coming back from hip surgery have incorporated this instead of running)
thats the core of my stuff. i cant do the squats and deadlifts atm and i will need to review it all and round it out nicely. i lack some core stuff because i find that the hardest and hurts the most but now i should really try to get some in there. especialy for ice hockey.
gonna prob arrange a mate to help me make a bit of a plan for a targeted 3 gym visits a week.

I was up there over xmas, I didnt realise they had added steps to the fire trail that goes up the left, I used to run up that as it was less crowded.
Stupid me went up there on the sunday between xmas and new year and it was packed.
