I’m usually very cynical about the club, and call it blind faith this time around, but it does at least seem they are acknowledging the tyre fire the club has become.
I’m cautiously encouraged by the club
(1) finally shipping out Daniher and Fantasia who clearly had motivation issues
(2) targeting a younger age profile at trade week (hind aside)
(3) trying to communicate better in the media and directly to fans
(4) tacitly acknowledging that a rebuild via the draft is required
I think we turned a potentially disastrous off season into something salvageable. Many were predicting we would get peanuts for Daniher and Saad
I’m not holding the players solely responsible for the dismal performances this year. None of the players on our list has a history of causing disruption or discontent. The problems this year came from the inability of the coaches to articulate a clear and sensible set of instructions. All the “learning the game plan” stuff was just plain bullshiit. Players respond to leaders who can tell them and show them what’s required. This year that didn’t happen. The high point (or low point really) was Worsfold complaining that the ball was moving too quickly. Good God! Teams spend time and effort finding ways to move the ball quickly. We’re the only team in the history of the universe that got instructed to move it slowly!
No wonder some players began to question whether their instructions made sense! They didn’t make sense.
Hooker is a great player, even though he’s slow. Hurley is a very good player. They’ve been around a long time and they’ve provided high quality examples for younger players to follow. If they question the coach’s instructions, I’m pointing the finger at the coach, not the players.
With respect Bluey, you have to hold the players responsible, as they are the only blokes whoo kick goals and win games. You may have valid reasons for their shitehouse performances, but they have to accept the greater share of responsibility.
They both have been great players and both are All-Australian. They are both past it and both need to retire. Or maybe Hooker can play a cameo role at FF.
The Coach has gone; and there is a new bloke called Truck. Maybe you need to give him a chance.
Yeah, right. We’ll see.
Love the profile pic!
Just gotta get through next year, blood the players, get our top 5 draft pick + Pick straight after as compensation for losing Merrett, splash the cash on a mercnary free agent and hopefully start the progressive ascension up the ladder with a young, talent ladden squad in the years after.
You and I both know that this club doesn’t do sane or rational thinking. Take these thoughts somewhere else.
Kevin Bartley’s been the head of the rules committee that’s done half the damage.
This old flog is half the ■■■■■■■ problem.
Gremlin looking bastard
Haha Gremlin.
Fck Bartlett. Absolute fckwit.
Not only has destroyed the game, But gave a voice every single day to the likes of Ralph, Denham, Smith and that racist c*nt from Athletics Australia.
Will people get over this? They won due to obvious assistance from the maggots as reward for Gordon leading the charge to de-register Essendon during the saga. This is something that is unlikely to be replicated. Especially by us.
And now those pissants have been given $36.6 million government funding to upgrade their facilities
Yes, it used to be a spectacular, exciting game to watch with great one-on-one contests, high marks, good transitions and lots of goals.
Now it’s like watching rats squabble over a meat pie at the bottom of an oval garbage bin.
“There’s an expression I’ve heard,” says Beth “that ‘sports don’t build character, they reveal it.’ That’s what’s happening here. If they’re angry people, this gives them an outlet. Where else in the world can you just pick an enemy and just hate them?”
“When we look at motivation for following a sport team, group affiliation is one of the top ones,” says Wann. “Identifying strongly with a salient local team where other fans are in the environment — that’s a benefit to social-psychological well-being.”
“It almost seems to me that they were using the denigration of other fans as a way to enhance self-esteem,” says Grieve. “‘Not only is my team better, but man, your fans stink, too.’”
When their team does poorly, however, they may also show biased perceptions against other people, such as the referees, the other team’s players, or fans of the other team. Their recollection of events may also be inaccurate.
Getting in a free agent cancels out your free agent compensation.
Oh man, I’m using this phrase.
