Only one asterisk, really.
Our (club legend) coach and the drug-■■■■■■ (club legend) senior assistant tried to take a huge shortcut which destroyed 5 years’ of everyone’s very finite careers. The players‘ careers, the club’s chances, 5 years of the supporters’ time, and their own.
It’s a cautionary tale that needs to be remembered a long, long time. You can’t take shortcuts to get there quicker, and you can’t let someone’s charisma (or playing career?) over-rule protocol.
But this site’s baying for blood, and would happily sign up for the same ■■■■ all over again - as long as someone’s seen to be doing something.
What can you do?
Not sure at all HAP that James Hird and Mark Thompson tried to take any shortcuts at all.
They followed the practices of many other AFL Clubs in initiating programs that were cutting edge of sports technology. The mistake was picking the wrong partners and the EFC Board not having good governance in place.
And to call Bomba “drug-farked” is way beneath you.
If they wait, they miss out on Joe for another year and, at 26 years old, it should be his prime. They also risk having to pay his contract out of their cap if he breaks down completely, something they are facing with Buddy.
I don’t put much credence in what the red sash says but I don’t like his tweet imploring us to take what’s on offer now, comes across as conditioning the fan base to me.
I can’t imagine anyone from the club is using sash as their mouthpiece. Surely if they wanted to condition us for compromise they would be talking up Joe’s injuries and talk about only wanting committed players.
That’s true. Just reads as those the tweet is trying to drum up support.
As I’ve posted previously I have full faith in Adrian not budging but I just hope pressure isn’t applied to him. I’ve got less faith in relation to
Some of the other leaders.
On the club website Dodoro says his main priority this trade period is player retention and then looking for a mid/ruck. Hopefully he sticks to his guns.
He doesn’t have to do anything with Daniher (or Fantasia - if he requests a trade). He can just say no. Only if the offer is going to make us a better side does he have to give it some serious consideration.
I feel like, apart from endemic politics rotting the club away like a flesh eating bacteria, development of the younger group has been our biggest issue.
And everyone’s saying “oh but our younger players have signed contracts extensions and must be happy ya de ya “, but every young player gets told to do that by their manager and then reassess once they’re in their prime.
If the virus doesnt extend to the cerebellum and reduce us to the airport pokies they’ll all ■■■■ off to hawthorn and win a zillion Brownlows.
