James Hird Resigns

Anyone else get the feeling there's a few club/board plants going hard in here since Hirdy got the shaft?

i understand that my question to you the other night got lost in all the other post’s.

So will ask again,

What are we moving forward to?

Another phase in Essendon’s history - isnt that what every wants?

Thanks for responding.

Yes we all want another phase, a good phase, but til WADA and CAS is over, we cannot start another phase.

No worries, I didnt see the other post

Like it or not, a new phase has already started, and another will start once WADA have finished ■■■■■■■ themselves and leave us alone.

I am looking forward to that - arent you?

Everyone has their own perspective, for me, it’s just moving pieces around in this phase that started 3 years ago.

For now, I feel the club which has been part of my life for such a long time and stood for something, our motto Suaviter in Modo, Fortiter in Re (Gently in manner, resolutely in execution) has betrayed my trust.

I never thought the execution would be one of our own.

I still love our team but the Club has left me feeling cold. Looking forward to the cricket season here.

No, I am calling the people who drop on and drop off as fair weather - thats the ■■■■■■■ definition of a fair weather supporter.

Do you actually know what a fair weather supporter is? We have plenty at Essendon, and they are members too.

Jesus, dont take everything so personally. Relax and think before posting

Maybe you’re the one who should be thinking before posting. I have followed Essendon for over 50 years, most of them as a member. Many on here are in the same boat. The last 3 years of this bullshit have gutted me. I have had heated discussions and arguments with friends, family and total strangers. I’ve read everything there is to read on this saga. I’ve educated myself as much as I can. I’ve had sleepless nights, I’ve been emotional. I’ve hurt with the players, coaches & fellow supporters. I’ve watched people I admire have their reputations dragged through the mud and their welfare ignored. I still don’t know why. I’ve stuck with the club - until now.

In all honesty I don’t know whether I will renew my membership next year after this club I’ve loved all my life has behaved with such a decided lack of morality. I could never, until now, foresee any circumstance where I would feel so alienated from it. At the moment the players are the only thing I am interested in. I’m totally disillusioned with my club, the AFL, ASADA, the media. If that constitutes a fair weather supporter then I’ll take that on board.

Have a think about the people who became disillusioned with the club when they discovered the footy department leaders allowed someone like Dank to stroll around unfettered.

From your post you’re assuming I haven’t given them a thought. That could not be further from the truth. I was one of them. There are many instances over the past 3 years where our club has acted poorly. Mistakes have been made all the way along the line. The events of the past few days are just another example and the last straw for many.

Mistakes have been made and you throw away 50 years of admirable connection to EFC ?

If WADA lose their appeal, and I feel sure they will, it’s going to take all my strength to hold back from storming their farkin HQ and razing the stinkin joint!
So help me they have ■■■■■■ up the lives of so many people…

Hopefully the intelligence has returned tomorrow morning and people can see this was really the only way forward

Seeing as you still have your intelligence/wits about you tonight, unlike us ridiculous and highly emotional ones,

exactly what are we moving forward to ?

i understand that my question to you the other night got lost in all the other post’s.

That’s a fair question; before you move forward you need to leave something behind. In this case, we’ve now left behind most of the connection we had with the day we took the wrong pathway towards success. It was the wrong pathway because it included taking on someone like Dank who was eventually exposed to be an inappropriate part of the club. Couple that with the AFL, and a situation arises where main role players in the saga are targeted to be eliminated due to the mischievous single minded agenda driven outcome focus of the governing body. The way forward excludes a legend of the club and it’s painful, but if you accept that Essendon must continue to be a member of the AFL to perpetuate your own particular link to the club, you do so in the belief that the way forward can’t include Hirdy.

Of course I want team to win, but if suddenly they became world- beaters, then I will not be happy, and think it has been a Hid stitch up.
Wow. Just wow.

Let me get this right…
You are given the choice of winning a premiership next or having the club coached by Hird and you take being coached by Hird?

Fark.
I’m just shocked and lost for words.

Well you’re gonna be shocked and lost for words quite a bit, if you keep putting words in people’s mouths that they didn’t say.

Putting words into other people’s mouth?
You might want to check up on the definition of ‘world beater’…

I did put words into his/her mouth. Maybe something else was meant about a ‘Hid stitch up’.

Wait for the new coach’s first ASADA/WADA based interview regarding some new sensational headline and tell me how the ‘moving on’ is going.

Its not over. That’s the point for many of us. Hird wasn’t the last stumbling block by a long shot. A new coach may do wonders, there is that possibility, though it feels less likely to make a change to our team of footballers than the CAS findings.

How does that make you a fair weather supporter? And where did I mention that someone like you is a fair weather supporter?

Just to help some of the people here who are having a hard time understanding what a fair weather supporter is - here is a link for you all to read and understand http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Fair+Weather+Fan

At no time did I say that I was any of you. Far out. Clearly it was interpreted the wrong way (I know I need to be careful how I write her, as even the slightest mistake gets taken way out of context)

My comment said the fair weather supporters (and you know who they are - that guy at work whose all “YAY Essendon” when we win but has been nowhere the last 6 or so weeks) will sign back up to the club as soon as we start winning a few games again - seriously, how did you possibly link that comment to the situation you are going through? I know you are emotional, but back up a second. No one (me) was having a go at you. I dont even know who you are - why would I call you a fair weather supporter?

And if any of you think that the comment of “Most of the fair-weathers will sign back up a few games into the season when we’ve won a few matches and the press are talking positive” was directed at ANY of you - I mean wow… just wow how such a long bow can be drawn over me explaining where we will get our 60,000 members from next year

I am positive we will get our 60K members - that doesnt make me part of the haters, its pure economics. Next year when (if) the club is doing well, people will sign back up. Thats not hard to understand, is it?

I just want us to win again. I want to be excited like i was last year when i booked flights for the elim final. I want us to reach 70k members and fk me i want a win on anzac day more than anything.

This is the fresh start we needed whether you like it or not. If players want to leave then let them. It’ll be our turn again. We have a good spine in blokes like hurley and hooker who are essendon people, you can just tell. and good young mids in hep, z merrett, laverde.

If we fix up the off field ■■■■ im confident we can turn it around on field reasonably quick. The base is there for a great side

Think you are fooling yourself about the basis for a great side. No ruckman, few with any speed and our best players are all over 28; Watson, Goddard and Stanton. Hooker and Hurley are good solid players, JoeDan may be a star one day, Heppell is good but not elite. Falls away from there and so many clubs are ahead of us. EFC cannot fix the off-field stuff as they have to rely on the SAGA to end. Not much wrong with anything else, it is the on field stuff that has been the big drama.

You may want to talk our players under to satisfy your morbid approach th this club (sort of like the media but sadder because you claim to be one of us) but that does not make you right. Putting Heppell down, failing to mention Zerrett, Colyer and others is silly.

Get a grip.

Fix the off-field, get a good coach and watch 2016 turn quickly and suddenly we are a “top four contender” coming out of mouths such as yours.

You can act like a Richmond supporter and pretend we have a great team and its all the Coaches fault.

And I am not talking our players under, just a realistic view on a Team that for many reasons has won 5 games and lucky to win a few of them. Of course it doesn’t make my opinion right, just my opinion. Heppell is a good player but elite players get BOG often and win games or at least have a big influence in outcomes. Heppell has not this year. Both Colyer and Zerrett are good players but again have not shown themselves to be A graders yet. Who else is this basis for a great side? Edwards and Laverde show promise, Langford hasn’t shown that much. Love Myers but injuries are an issue, and Carlisle could be elite but not yet and maybe never for Bombers.

Our player gaps are great especially when you take out those blokes over 28. So abuse me all you like, but I have been to many many Bomber games over the past 50 years and just don’t see the great side potential yet.
