You sound like Felix.
Winning games of football will steady Essendon; but unless those wins are actually meaningful, it will be a short term sugar hit. Brad is a great example of this - his first couple of seasons (for the first halves anyway) were solid.
Essendon needs it’s culture back. I’m not saying it needs to be Hird, but I don’t know anyone else better than him that can fuse the factions together. And it’s more important for a young team than people properly understand.

I see 2 players who both achieved all of the following:
250+ games
2+ premierships
Brownlow Medal
Norm Smith medal
Its a select group of people who have done all of that.
Coached under Sheedy & Bomber.
They have cut their teeth in Media, but have a burning desire to test themselves in the AFL coaching world again.
Due to the amount of footy they are watching are up with the current trends and have a good working relationship.
Have Both experienced the media and breakups with spouses,
Both were big game players, and able to perfrom under pressure both been involved in winning cultures.
Bartel served as director at Giants.

also held roles at Brisbane, AFLPA and AFL tribunal
currently head of Caufield Grammar footy - program management and player development

When the AFaiL were getting all the club presidents/ceos to gang up on us, Freo refused. Not long after that, Freo made the finals and instead of playing Geelong at Marvel, they were sent to Kardinia Park (hoping that they wouldn’t win). But they did. It was a shot over the bow to remind Freo who was in power and what they could do to the club.
