Not sure we need to go outside the club to get a player like this.

Not a clanger king like JJ, anyway. I don’t trust “look-at-me” types.

JJ not needed, not required we have Conor and Fanta, who is also a brilliant running half back.

Agreed. A gun inside mid is our biggest need

Edit: a gun inside mid who can cover the ground. Not someone whose boots are filled with cement.

Nope

It also might depend on how much he wants a premiership.

Jerrett and a third rounder should do it

How quickly has his value tumbled. It’s insane.

He has been the beneficiary of tough n hard players around him.

His soft underbelly is being exposed atm with his team mates all being a bit less intense than last yr.

If a player does have a soft underbelly, it gets found out quickly enough.

Still waiting for Andrew Mackie’s to get found out regularly.

Mackie is so protected by the other gun defenders in his team though.

Does a player have to be everything though, to be a great player? Tough, fast, smart, tall, agile…Dangerfield?
Isn’t there room for specialists in this game anymore? Or is this just another ‘supporter’ thing?

There aren’t as many of them left in that team.

Pretty sure we cut through him time and again.

If allowed by the other teams midfield, we cut through a lot of teams.

isn’t often the opposition feel comfortable taunting a player publicly

and it was the dees of all teams…

To be great, yes. Or pretty close to it.

To be good, no. You can get away with a few who lack pace or hardness or footskills, just leaves the coaches playing a bit of a balancing act.

No, but once again it leads back to something I said earlier. JJ requires a very solid midfield to support him, he is the cream on the top type player. He is good and he has his place, I just do not think it is at Essendon. We need to build a damn fine midfield before we go paying a lot of money for the cream on the top.

I agree that he doesn’t fit us, but not for the same reasons. There is no one on our list that I can think of, that would be considered a ‘great player’ using that standard. In fact, I can really only think of a handful in the legue. So I guess it comes down to perspective - and maybe semantics.
