JLT v Filth - Review Thread

I must be the only one that was disappointed tonight. When we roll over, we roll over like real bad teams do.

We took all our good players off. Why is that so hard to understand?

We took our good players off for a quarter, they had theirs off for the entire match.

We had good players missing too (Hooker, JD). "they had theirs off for the entire match" - that logic doesn't work for me either, we took players off during a game. Their players you speak of was before the game. Leuey coming off was the most important for us.
Is this the way the game will be umpired for the whole year? or is it just the pre season comp. There were some decisions (both ways) that I just scratched my head and thought 'that's a basketball foul, not a free kick'.

Also can someone clarify the deliberate rushed behind. Dunn punched the ball through whilst under limited pressure from about 15m. Isn’t that deliberately rushed?

No. I don’t think anyone is capable of clarifying that rule.

Entire match? Like who?
Grundy
Trelor
Pendlebury
Adams
Probably another couple of i have missed.

For us:
Daniher
Hocking
Hooker
Hartley
Stanton

So both teams went in under strength. So what’s your point?

Very, very disappointing.

I was really expecting a charged up team, but Collingwood won it because they were more charged up than us.

We fought and scrambled our way to a lead that should have been enough at ¾ time, in fact I was hoping and expecting that we would really pull away.

Instead the opposite happened. Collingwood gritted their teeth, went in hard and we were brushed aside.

That is not the way I thought we would start the season. Certainly not the way I wanted.

At the game and reckon some are being too hard on Jerrett. Worked hard off the ball. Did some nice things

I know its pre season but I can't help but feel we are in for a season of disappointment

That’s your conditioning speaking Pavlov

Can’t help it, I’m conditioned by the last 12 years of mediocrity.

Tonight showed exactly why Green was a great pickup. Just wait until he is crumbing off Joe and Hooker. Did anyone else see the little cheap shot he gave Dunne in the back? I have missed having an angry sh$t stirring redhead in the team.

Was Tippa no good?

I just loved the fact that even though it was just one PS game, you can already see the $ Collingwood have wasted on picking up Chris ■■■■■■■ Mayne. Was it a 4 year deal worth around $450k a season?

im of the opinion that what you do with the ball is most important, and what he did wasn’t great.

Not a fan of having players for ‘what they do off the ball’ in our best 22. imo that leads to a team that will struggle with finals.

Was Tippa no good?

Prefer him half back where his run and carry creates play.

Hard to take seriously anyone drawing any conclusions from this mickey mouse cup. Just enjoy the players return, so much to look forward to, great young players, future is glaringly bright.

We took all our good players off. Why is that so hard to understand?

And they didn’t?
They also had a lot more than us missing tonight so that can’t be used as a excuse.

Elliott was killing us and he was taken off at half time along with a couple of others

Couple of observations…

Peter Lazers missus is fkn HOT, my OH my.

Some Essendon supporter completely exploded at a bin walking out of Etihad after the game.

Dropped one meaningless practice match in the last quarter, with 7 guys returning to play their first game in 18 months, with a bunch of new guys.

What is this? A run on the panic $$$ market. If so then l’m buying.

Take the final score out of it, which means nothing in the greater scheme of things. The night went pretty well
Positives:
No injuries(which is by far the most important thing)
Jobe and the boys looked like they were enjoying themselves
Guys like smack, ambrose and green were very good. Ambrose and green put their hand up big time for round one.
Raz looked really dangerous
We killed them on the rebound/turnover.
Mcgrath did some nice things

Negatives:
We really struggled in the stoppages which happened a lot last year. But they have more than enough time to fix that up. But it was still a dissapointment.

Elliot killed no one. 8 touches.

Yep, you could pretty much say that our stoppages were a train wreck.

Most everything else went pretty well.

McGrath was great
McKernan was great
Watson was great wish he could have kicked that long goal when the crowd got around him
The boys just seemed cooked after 3qt time, we were practically dominant in the first 3 quarters
