Making finals can’t be a pass mark need to win finalsl and sit comfortably in the top 8 for him to get a contract extension imo.

Agree partially, I think making top 4 would show significant improvement (and you would hope we would win a final tbh) and probably warrant an extension even if we did go out in str8 sets.

Ideally we would just have a thumping finals win and then two more and win the flag… but yeah I’m not greedy… sortof.

I think top 4 should be the aim.

Could have finished top 4 this year but instead we ■■■■■■ the fixture away by loosing to teams that we should have beaten,

I said before the season started that we should have been aiming for top 4 this year. I realise others saw it differently but I am very positive about our list. We have a top 4 list talent wise… we have 8 true A graders across all three lines (Hurley, Parish, McGrath, Heppell, Merrett, Fanta, Hooker*, Daniher) which is a lot… we also have 6 really solid x-factor/B+ types (Zaka, Goddard, Walla, McKenna, Baguley*, Gleeson)… and then our ‘bottom 8’ has players like Colyer, Myers, TBell, Stewart, Ambrose et al…

We really do have a very strong best 22 on paper… with almost no oldies other than Goddard really… the rest should be able to play together for the next 4-5 years easily. Our 10 best players are all basically about to hit their prime together.

With the right tactics and coaching… we really should be considered an elite team of the competition next year.

If Richmond were able to do it so can we.

That’s what I’m saying, his plan, has been drawn up to suit the top end of the cattle we have, we need to add to it sure, but it’s about putting our younger talent in the best position to succeed.

I hope like hell Woosha throws all the usual rhetoric from EFC out next year. Dogs, Tigers etc have shown you don’t need an apprenticeship or to protect young kids. You need to empower them and let them do their stuff.

I hope Woosha throws Lang, Lav, Mutch, McGrath and Begely straight in the middle.

FWIW, at the first (?) intra-club match of the Hird era, out at Footscray, Thompson was the one going nuts over fans being within fifty metres of the interchange and coaches.

How did he get involved at the Crows? What was the connection there?

He came in and helped the whole club when Phil Walsh passed away. Was the coaching director supporting Camporeale who was interim coach.

There was a strong connection between the two from the time Phil Walsh was an assistant/opposition strategy coach at WC under Worsfold. Adelaide approached Worsfold to help out after Walsh was killed as Worsfold was Walsh’s mentor and had a good knowledge of Walsh’s plans. Worsfold also had a connection with Camporeale when Worsfold was an assistant coach at Carlton.

It also explains why Rob Harding was recruited as our game intelligence/opposition strategy coach. He and Worsfold would have worked closely together at the Crows and no doubt their collaboration at Adelaide has influenced the game plan we are trying to implement.

Unless he can inspire a non compromising hunger and passion to tackle, pressure, harass, hunt the ball, then we are just wasting time till our next coach.

If the Bulldogs and Tigers have shown us anything, you don’t have to have great players to win a premiership, just a hunger to do the hard things more often than your opponents. ■■■■ Richmond have a dozen average players, but they run, and run, and run.

Our game plan is miles off winning finals football.

So in other words, we don’t need the Big Fish?

No we probably don’t. We have bigger issues than any one player will fix.

Do you think its possible he can actually see through his plan?

I’m comfortable in saying that what we saw this year is not the end result.

Rockliff as our ‘big fish’

and say 1-2 of the wafl mids that have been spoken about in the mature aged recruit thread.

and stringer.

would be a more than adequate trade/drafting period, with a kid in the 2nd round and 3rd round

So how was Richmond going last year?

How did Bulldogs go this year?

The wheel turns very fast.

There aren’t many teams miles off winning finals…gotta get it right at the pointy end.

… and have a nice story for the AFL to get their communication specialists to get behind.

Like Bulldog battlers - first time in 60 years! TIGER ARMY!! etc

Can you honestly see those arrseholes doing that while we still have players that they have besmirched for the last 5 years?

How long is worsfold’s contract?
YOu’d think if we don’t win a final next year he is out?
