Winning those metrics wins 9 out of 10 games.
But you know, Essendon.

Iām sure you had checked this before you wrote the above, but I can confirm we won the tackle and one percenter stats in this game.
(did not find the pressure acts stats)
Didnāt win them by that much all Eagles had to was to match and it was enough to win going by those stats
I am not talking about the number of goals kicked on him. The way he get beaten and get lost when the quick and dirty ball come to our D50. Also not taking game opening kick from D50.
Too often we have a player getting sucked up to the contest or ball carrier and as soon as they do the ball lollipops over the top to their player for an easy kick into the forward 50.
We seem to have players who donāt when when to go and when to hold back
On a positive note I missed the game. Wonāt be following up either, just like those games in the 70s I didnāt bother ever viewing.
On another positive note our good players will be at Williamstown tomorrow. Thatās where Iāll be despite the fact that Willy are a really strong team that will probably flog us.
Yes your right. We got lot of aspects of the game right against a very good seasoned team. They are short of only few top players.
I was filthy as all of us for losing this game. But there is lot to like about the way went about it.
Which as Iāve said several times is why we need Zerk. Read Post #320 above.
"His contest and the way he structures up down back, heās a real leader down there for usā¦ Heās a real captain of the backline, the boys love playing with him, and he just attacks the ball so hard in the air. "
Well Iām happy for ya but not for me all i saw was the same crapolla we dished up prior the Saints game
If we lost the way we played last week i would have been ok we went away from what got us the win last week
That is something to develop over time. Not to commit too many players to tackling and to leave a outlet player free.
Its the only thing weāve been consistently good at for an extended time.
Our defense and forward defensive efforts have to be the worst in the league. Itās infuriating just watching opposition week after week just stroll out of our 50 if Wright doesnāt take a mark and just transition within 30 seconds to scoring a goal. Sack everyone. Fold and rebrand the club.
At the expense of sounding cynical, but I donāt think this should be the wallpaper to reflect tonights result, on the EFC website:
Maybe we can be the Tassie team
Just cant handle it anymore i cant think of one game this year where we moved the ball coast to coast for any easy goal everything we do is damm hard work. no space for an easy lead or 1v1 in our forward line always to the top of the sqaure hoping for Jones or Peter to clunk one.
Tapping is in charge of the forward line and should be sacked if he cant teach forwards how to lead and create space.
At least we have next year to look forward too. Iām not getting caught up in the negativity. As long as the young fellas gave it a good crack. There is nothing wrong with pick 2 either. Iām writing this message after 12 beers and concentrating with one eye shut and Iām confident there is no spelling mistakes. Thatās the real positive of the night. Itās going to be a long day at work tomorrow. Cheers
Heās has 1 good season. Heās not very good.
This has probably been said, I havenāt read much of the thread. We lost because we were always outnumbered in their forward 50, which is backed up by their forward 50 efficiency numbers. Throwing our extra back, instead of assumedly at the contest, might have been a wise move?
Everytime they went forward there was someone with a 20m paddock around them. Surely, this is due to coaching?
The other thing was how often our defenders left their opponent, but made no impact at all, allowing for an easy release. This lead to a lot of outnumbers down the line and unpressured kicks into their forward line.
