Local Footy 2015

VAFA have just started their national carnival in the last 13 minutes against Tasmania in Hobart.

MPNFL board has resigned as of this morning.

Will get down to the mighty Pit tomorrow for a look at Bernards, all three games on oval one for what I’m pretty sure is the first time this year so should be a good feel to it.

Aberfeldie by a mile again. 32.6 with Reimers kicking 7against Avondale Heights.

Pascoe Vale belted at home by Keilor, so Greenvale now second.

That’s 2 losses on the bounce for Pacco I think. The top 4 looks almost settled with Abers, Greenvale, PV and Keilor. Strathmore is a game and percentage behind in 5th and hardly been convincing,

Doutta Stars belted previously undefeated Craigieburn in Division 1, Jason Cloke injured.

Froze umpiring an under 19’s game yesterday (no a, b or c yesterday)…Old geelong made Old Xaverians look utterly pointless. 23.22.160 to 1.3.9

VAFA finished 3rd in the Amateur Carnival in Hobart, beating the hosts, the Old Scholars Football Association (OSFA) in the minor final 17.15.117 to 2.4.16.

Amongst the Tasmanians was Zach Mihocek (son of Jack?)

Carnival champions are the South Australians from the South Australian Amateur And Metropolitan Football League (SAAMFL) who beat the Western Australians, the Western Australian Amateur Football League (WAAFL) 7.13.55 to 5.11.41.

Matches on the first 2 days were held at North Hobart Oval, with the finals held at Bellerive Oval.

D1-D4 in the Ammos saw Kew, Emmaus St. Leos and Canterbury all remain undefeated.

Kew defeated NOBS/St. Pats but 77 points at Gillon Oval
Emmaus St. Leos beat Albert Park by 79 points by the lake

and

Canterbury destroyed Masala out at Noble Park by 164.

WRFL:

Werribee Districts sit 4th a game clear of St. Albans and Altona.

Wyndhamvale lead Division 2 with a 2 game break over West Footscray. 2 games back are Yarraville/Seddon and North Footscray. Sunshine Heights have yet to win and seemingly headed for Division 3.

Albanvale head Division 3 and have a 2 game break on Wyndham Suns. Parkside and Sanctuary Lakes sit behind them. North Sunshine and Braybrook have only 3 wins each.

Eastern:

Division 1 finals teams are almost set: Balwyn leads Reboot’s Noble Park by half a game, then a game back is Rowville, Vermont half a game back in 4th and Norwood a further half a game back in 5th. In the relegation fight are East Ringwood and Lilydale, separated by half a game.

Northern:

Division 1 leaders are Greensborough. Macleod are half a game back. 2 and a half wins back are Northcote Park and Heidelberg, a game clear of Eltham and Bundoora. North Heidelberg look to be the relegated team.

Division 2 sees Hurstbridge and Thomastown equal leaders, separated by 21.65%. Lalor are half a game back, with Whittlesea a game behind them and Fitzroy Stars a game further back. Mernda look to be the relegated team.

Division 3 sees South Morang and Watsonia equal leaders, separated by 28.26%. A game behind are Epping, with Reservoir a game further back. Heidelberg West foot the ladder.

Southern:

Division 1 is headed by Dingley, a game clear of East Brighton. Mordialloc are a game behind them in 3rd, but a game clear of East Malvern. A game further back is Clayton. Chelsea Heights on one win are the team to be relegated.

Division 2 sees Oakleigh Districts and Keysborough equal leaders, separated by 1.62%. Skye are a game behind, a game clear of Murrumbeena. They are a game clear of Caulfield and Hampton. Heatherton and Doveton are in the relegation fight, separated by a game.

South Yarra a game further back. With the Southern Dragons pulling out in recent weeks, they sit last, but, Dandenong are right above them on one win.

Around the Grounds:

Hoppers Crossing move to 2nd outright after smashing Spotswood at home. Deer Park are 6 points clear on top.

2 and half wins separate the EFL top 5, with Balwyn leading from Noble Park, Vermont, Rowville and Norwood.

Going to be very interesting in the NFL, with 3rd to 7th separated by 1 game and 34.43% - Northcote Park, Heidelberg, Eltham, Bundoora and Lower Plenty.

East Brighton, Mordialloc and East Malvern fight out the double chance in the SFL, with St. Pauls and Clayotn fighting it out for 5th.

Aberfeldie must be premiership favourites. Greenvale, Pascoe Vale and Keilor have a double chance fight, with Strathmore and Maribyrnong Park fighting it out for 5th.

Premier looks intriguing - St. Bernards and Old Trinity are split by 6.01% at the top - Carey seem safe in 3rd 2 and half games behind the top 2 and a game a half clear of the those fighting for 4th. 4th to 9th are separated by just 2 games and percentage - in order Old Xaverians, University Blacks, University Blues, Collegians, De la Salle and Old Scotch. The fight for 4th could also decide the 2nd relegation place, with Beaumaris seemingly gone, a game and half behind Scotch.

SKOBS have a 4 game break on the rest of the top 4 in Premier B, as they just continue to win. Old Brighton, St. Bedes and Old Melburnians are spilt by 32.61% and are 2 games clear of Ajax in 5th. Caulfield look gone for sure now, but, Mazenod and Parkdale are fighting it out for the other relegation place, 3.91% between them.

PEGS won their first game for the season yesterday down at Peninsula. Almost certain to go down with Old Camberwell from Premier C. The top 4 are 2 games clear of 5th placed Penisula and 6th placed Oakleigh, but are separated by a game and percentage between Monash Blues, Marcellin, Old Ivanhoe and Old Haileybury.

Kew dropped their first game in Division 1 and are just 24.38% clear of Ormond. Old Geelong are game back and poised to challenge. St. Marys Salesian and NOBS will fight it out for 4th. Yarra Valley remain winless, with Bulleen/Templestowe and Old Mentonians in the relegation battle.

Ivanhoe, St. Johns and Old Paradians are separated by a game in Division 2, with Eltham and Northern Blues (Carlton’s 3rds lol) to fight out 4th. South Melbourne, who can’t get players, will be relegated, whilst Monash Gryphons and Elsternwick have the relegation fight ahead of them.

Division 3 sees Emmaus St. Leos undefeated still, clear of West Brunswick. Aquinas, Hawthorn and Uni High come next, with Swinburne and Glen Eira fighting out for the final place in the 6. Any 2 of Power House, Latrobe and Eley Park could go down.

Division 4 is Canterbury’s to truly take now. 2 games clear on top from Westbourne and Point Cook. Box Hill North, North Brunswick, Mount Lilydale and Parkside are fighting for finals.

History will be made this coming Saturday afternoon, as the Junction Oval stages it’s last ever football match of any description, as Premier B clubs Old Melburnians and Caulfield Grammarians run out on the ground for the very last time.

I am honoured to be umpiring this historic event.
