I haven't really been following this thread, mainly because I don't really care two bits about the bloke. I think he endeared himself to the public because of his reputation, rightly ot wrongly, of targeting crooks and leaving regular people alone. Have no idea if this is true or not but it has been reinforced through his books and that movie.
