Match review thread Vs Pies

Aight, changes time:

Gwilt = grima. If Casboult or Jones kill us I’ll go full retard.

McKenna = redman. Straight up grade, must find goals.

Dempsey = simpkin. Reward his form, demps was garbage.

Gleeson lucky, but can’t make too many changes.

Think Darcy needs a rest (and that means a rest, not play in the reserves). Not saying he had a bad game but we can’t burn him out. Bring Darcy straight back in for round 6.

Conner needs a run in the 2’s. He was ok, but he needs to work on his defensive pressure and positioning when we lose the ball in our forward 50. Simpkin and Crowley to replace them.

Gleeson wouldn’t be happy with his game today but has been solid this year and deserves his spot.
Dempsey was rusty but we need senior experience and he’s gotta be given a chance to find some form.

Gwilt will be nervous with Grima knocking on the door, but like Gleeson will get another go.

Langford stays in for mine. I reckon we need to fast track this kid and carry him through to 50 games. He’ll explode one of these days.

Grimley also stays in, was good with his limited chances.

The only other change would be to bring Ambrose back in. We sorely missed tackling strength today, he would have helped, hell, he could have tagged pendlebury. Not sure who he’d replace but Merret looked out of sorts today, I reckon he’s playing injured.

McKenna stays

Its what the AFL wanted and its what the AFL got. An embarrassment on a day that is supposed to mean something.

Tassie civil war!

I seriously thought we had a chance today. Must be one of those oft mentioned ‘delusional Bombers fans’.

No need to shout.

Wasn’t out best game for the year.

I was worried we would get spanked as soon as the pressure came to the pies and people kept talking us up.

Again some good positives and some things that we need to continue to work on.

The brain fades and poor disposal by the experienced players was dissapointing. I thought there were also too many time we worked ourselves into trouble when we were clear by over possessing the ball. More direct play would help our forwards.

Great to see Dempsey back!!!

The filth midfielders showed that football is a two way game. They ran hard to the back half and also ran hard to the forward half. So many times, especially in the first half it looked like there were twice as many filth players on the field. Running hard and kicking to dangerous spots were two things they did so much better than us.

I fractured my elbow today and it's not the worst thing that happened.

Hope a collingwood supporter was on the receiving end.

You all realise that we don't actually have anyone to replace the ones you're calling to be dropped

Clearly didnt watch the VFL if you think that

Put it behind us. Losses like this were always on the cards this season, unfortunate it was on such a day like today.

We’ll get better, and think we’re a strong chance to beat Carlton next week. I know emotions run strong, but now’s the time to calm down. Clear issues today which the coach will address this week. We’ll make a few changes and re-group. We’re playing the long game.

  1. Take arguably 5 or 6 guns, almost your entire midfield and KPPS out of any side: Heppell, Hurley, Hooker, Hurley, Watson, Myers and see how you go.
  2. Walla, Raz, Hartley, Parish and Brown can play; and are getting more game time than they might have expected.
  3. A few more experienced heads need to hang the boots up at year end.
  4. We have a handful of quality mids and runners in the VFL who will give it a shake before seasons end. Collingwood have Cloke.

So drop Zak merret?

Bring back Daniel McAlister as well.

I can remember Sheeds saying after the Anzac 93 loss that some of the players only had 20 games or less under their belt and would only get better. Not that we got beaten by that much then and not that I expect a repeat of 93 this year, but this year we have some players who might have benefitted from more VFL games and also players who have come out of retirement. Also, I remember being told that good young inexperienced players can be awfully inconsistent. I hate losing by so much and I hate losing to Collingwood, but more or less expected it. Here’s to some bonuses this year and a sparkling 2017.

Not at all surprised how much Bruce McAveney loves Cox. Always suspected he was a lover of the big guys. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Positives:

Tippa,bags,hartley, zaka,zerrett , cooney

all gave 100% effort for 4 qtrs

Grimey looked ok when he got the ball

Um…

Negates

Another big crowd, big stage and we failed badly. Again

Game was done and dusted 25min into the first qtr. you could tell within 5min they weren’t switched on

Dempsey- once again comes back into the team and plays poorly- that is now 3 anzac day games in a row he has done that, his first qtr was disgusting, he made so many schoolboy defending errors.

Our midfield- our stoppage work in the middle, kicking to forwards, not running back to help out.

Mckenna needs to go back to the vfl, is he nowhere near AFL ready yet.

Zaka is going to have to learn how to deal with a hard tag, tried his best though

Goddard- the end is coming very very quickly for him

Kelly had his worst game for the club, ditto loony

There was zero intensity to our game today

Gleeson- he tries hard, but the way he is rag dolled in tackles and pushed aside when he tires to tackle is a joke. Hasn’t got any size on him whatsoever, so when defending one on one he is just pushed aside with ease

Joe daniher- squibbed badly in the pocket early in the 2nd qtr. has to start working harder off the ball. I would have no problem at all if they dropped him for smack- needs a kick up the backside

We aren’t on the bottom.

Few nuffies coming out of the wood work …

■■■■■■■ love this football club regardless of what happens on game day. Go Bombers!!!

Another positive, when was the last time two goal reviews went our way? I can’t recall it ever happening before.
