The biggest thing we have to fear this year, is a mediocre team with a point to prove.
We’ll catch good teams napping, and get a few Honourable losses, but if any team turns up desperate for a win, we’re in trouble.
The less said about today, the better.
That’s pretty much it.
Which then brings it back to the coaches IMO, esp when the head coach says during the week, it’s about prepering every week the same, no matter what the occassion or opposition.
Like I said post the port game, the blueprint is there how to beat us, the coaching group should be judged on how well the players turn up when the heat is on.
so far, they panic and get overwhelmed and are down by 60 odd points in a qtr and a bit.
Anytime that happens IMO from now on, is a tick in the had a bad day column.
Also the coaching group as a whole deserve a bake after that performance, have none of them paid attention over the last few years ?
not to bag dempsey cos it is what it is, but they should know by now they shouldn’t bring him back on anzac day, they shouldn’t play him down back, and they prolly shouldn’t be picking him to play at all.
No doubt he’s out there trying, he is just a very limited footballer and the coaches shouldn’t be picking him, and they sure as hell should never be playing him in the backline.
AS much as the players didn’t bring any effort (bar a handful of players) the coaching was downright poor today, if for nothing else they didn’t have the team prepared to face another team breathing fire from a media backlash all week, just 2 weeks after we copped it over in port.
alas as you say, this year it’s not necessarily going to be about what we do, the end result of the day is going to be dictated heavily by how teams turn up to play us.
turn up at even prolly 80 % and we’ll match you.
bring your intensity and effort A game against us, and well we’ll be out of the contest within a qtr.
it sucks, but it is what it is.
